Learn how to improvise on piano with just two notes and two chords: D minor and A7, with the pillar notes D and A, from your first whole note to enclosures, trills and triplets. Beginner to intermediate, with Jason Zac. Pick two chords, D minor and A7, and keep them pumping in the left hand. Then take just two notes, D and A, and let them be the pillars your melody always comes back to. That is the whole idea: land on a pillar, and everything you play around it sounds like it belongs. We build it one level at a time. Level 0 is the pillar notes in whole notes, half notes and off the beat. Then one note below (the leading tone), one down and one up, trills (including a more Indian trill), repeated cells and swing triplets, runs that connect the two pillars, and finally enclosures. Near the end there is a taste of a blues minor colour over the same two chords, and a way to practise it so you can compose your own little pieces. Play along with the chapters below, pause the video, and try each level before moving on. The same plan works in any minor key once you move the two pillars. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons 🎹 Simple but Effective Piano Improvisation Using Chord Tones as Pillars ➡️ https://youtu.be/xEqm46HKrBw 🎼 Compose & Improvise Better Melodies Using Scale & Chord Tones (Piano) ➡️ https://youtu.be/h2K0ZqkZViw 🎵 5 Things You Didn't Know About the Harmonic Minor Scale (Piano Theory) ➡️ https://youtu.be/i7dU99lBWAk ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://free-music-lessons.nathanielschool.com ============================= 00:00 - The two-chord performance 01:06 - The left hand: D minor and A7 03:09 - Level 0: the pillar notes D and A 05:03 - Level 1: one below 07:14 - Level 2: one down, one up 08:09 - Level 3: trills 09:31 - Level 4: repeat it, then triplets 10:28 - Level 5: connect the pillars 12:30 - Level 6: enclosures 13:14 - More notes, and a blues minor colour 14:52 - Putting it all together 16:20 - How to practise this ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 Call +91 98454 65411 · 💬 WhatsApp chat +91 77604 56847 📧 Customised & Private Lessons ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #PianoLessons #PianoTutorial #MusicTheory #PianoImprovisation
The hexatonic scale is the six-note scale between the pentatonic and the seven-note scales you already know — catchy like a pentatonic, with the flavour of a full scale. Piano lesson with Jason Zac of Nathaniel School of Music. Three ways to make six notes: take a seven-note scale and leave one note out (G major without F♯), add one note to a pentatonic (the minor and major blues scales), or put two triads together that share no note (G major + A minor — the "Sunday scale", a name made popular by pianist Peter Martin). Then play the pairs, in G: G + A minor, A♭ + B♭ minor, G + A (Lydian, no 7), G + F (Mixolydian, no 6), G + F minor and G + A♭ (Phrygian dominant colours), G + E♭ minor (the augmented scale), G + D♭ (a tritone apart — the Petrushka scale), and the minor-home pairs: G minor with A minor, F minor, A♭, F♯ minor and B. Last, the three families: triad pairs, symmetrical scales (whole tone, augmented, Petrushka) and culture scales (the blues scales, and six-note ragas like Marwa, Puriya and Sriranjani). The flavour is in the missing note. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 📹 Everything for Life Bundle ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ▶️ Related lessons & playlists Piano Workout: 2 Chords, All Inversions & Modal Hexatonic Scales ➡️ https://youtu.be/qakASBgKQ9U Piano Improvisation: 3 Ways to Use the Pentatonic Scale ➡️ https://youtu.be/p2JYPEZ7nLU How to Write a Melody on Piano Using the Pentatonic Scales ➡️ https://youtu.be/hE3I3I6bIpk Blues Scale Piano Workout: Major & Minor Blues Scales ➡️ https://youtu.be/p46g4HXjtj0 Whole Tone Scale Exercise ➡️ https://youtu.be/ljflwFHZSQM Subset Scales on Piano: Carnatic Raga Colours From Pentatonics ➡️ https://youtu.be/-ExjS5-fKog Piano Scales (playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9qErCYaKIjOhKDf2j8Q0uH Creative Scale Practice (playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT-p0MXCH5MeTmklqTeygKP2 🎓 https://nathanielschool.com 📚 Free tutorials library — search "scales" ➡️ https://free-music-lessons.nathanielschool.com ⏱️ Chapters 00:00 - Intro 01:08 - Why six notes 06:48 - Three ways to make six 09:58 - The Sunday scale (G + A minor) 11:04 - A♭ + B♭ minor 12:17 - Lydian, Mixolydian and Spanish pairs 15:24 - Augmented and Petrushka pairs 16:58 - Minor-home pairs 19:16 - The three families 19:40 - Symmetrical scales 21:56 - Culture scales 23:08 - Wrap-up 💰 PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 💬 WhatsApp ➡️ +91 77604 56847 ✉️ music@nathanielschool.com #PianoLessons #PianoTutorial #MusicTheory #HexatonicScale
Learn how to play blues piano with just two notes in your right hand — shell voicings, the Charleston rhythm and both blues scales over a 12-bar blues in E, with Jason Zac of Nathaniel School of Music. 🎹 A dominant seventh chord has four notes, and you only need two of them. Keep the third and the flat seventh — the two notes that make it a dominant — and throw the root and the fifth away. Your left hand covers the root anyway, and as Jason puts it, the fifth "isn't adding that much unique harmonic flavour" in the right hand, so give it to the left and it widens the whole thing out. That pair is a shell voicing, and it is what blues and jazz pianists have always actually played. We start on C7 — E and B flat — and then take it to E for the rest of the lesson. E7 is D and G sharp. A7 is C sharp and G. B7 is D sharp and A. Every one of those is a tritone, and here is the part nobody tells you: a tritone is its own inversion. Turn a perfect fourth upside down and you get a fifth; turn a major third upside down and you get a minor sixth; turn a tritone upside down and you get another tritone. That is why 3–♭7 and ♭7–3 are the same shape, and why your hand barely moves all the way round a blues. Then the rhythm. The Charleston is two hits, swung, and there is a displaced version that starts late and lands on the three. Combine them — Jason's own preference is the displaced one first, then the normal one, which is everywhere in rock and roll. Left hand keeps a steady root and fifth underneath. And the gap the Charleston leaves is not empty space: it is where your solo goes. For the solo, two scales, and both are simpler than they sound. The major blues is just the major pentatonic with a flat third added. The minor blues is the minor pentatonic with the blue note. Then three licks: E B D E, the longer B D B B flat A G that fits over B7, A7 and E7 without changing a note, and the A–B flat–B turnaround — the four, the tritone and the five — that sends you round again. Finish with what Jason calls "some masala": slide the whole tritone voicing down chromatically. Do that from B7 and you land on E7, then A7 — because the three chords of an E blues sit on three touching pairs of keys. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 📹 Everything for Life Bundle ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ▶️ RELATED LESSONS One Left Hand Pattern. Take one note — D — and the six chords that contain it: D major, D minor, G major, G minor, B♭ major and B minor. One chord alone lets you imagine many scales. Two chords narrow it down. Three chords and the scale is obvious. That is how chord charts really work: you read chords and you interpret scales. A chord is an unfinished scale. A triad gives you three notes; a scale needs seven. So the four notes you add are up to you — and that is where every scale comes from. In this lesson I build scales the unconventional way: not tone–tone–semitone, not from the modes, but from chords. One chord leaves four notes open to your imagination — D major alone gives you D major, D mixolydian, D lydian, D harmonic major, and it is also the dominant of G harmonic minor and G melodic minor. Two chords narrow it down to one or two notes: D major with G major gives you D major, D mixolydian, or G harmonic major if you make G the tonic; D major with G minor gives you the harmonic minors, melodic minors and harmonic majors; D major with B♭ major fits only one scale, and it is a beautiful one. Three chords and the scale is decided — D, G and B minor live in D major and in G major at the same time, and the functions simply swap. That is how chord charts work. You read chords and you interpret scales. You are not locked to a key signature — you let the chord, or the cadence, or the trio, dictate the scale. ✏️ Correction (05:45): I call the G minor triad “the fifth, or the dominant, of D Phrygian”. G is the FOURTH degree of D Phrygian (D E♭ F G A B♭ C) — the fifth is A — so G minor is the subdominant, the iv, of that scale. The very next sentence has it right: start from the chord and choose tonic, dominant or subdominant. Learn blues piano with Jason Zac — one left hand pattern, and both blues scales on top of it, in the key of B♭. The left hand runs a shuffle engine: root with its 5th, then root with its 6th — 1 5 1 6 — struck together, staccato, wrist bouncing like a trampoline. Add the ♭7 and it becomes 5 6 ♭7 6. That engine never stops while the right hand plays the B♭ major blues (1 2 ♭3 3 5 6) and the B♭ minor blues (1 ♭3 4 ♭5 5 ♭7), one octave and then two, in eighth notes and then triplets. Three notes live in both scales — B♭, D♭ and F. That's the door you improvise through. ▶️ Full lesson ➡️ https://youtu.be/p46g4HXjtj0 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 📹 Everything for Life Bundle ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com 🎛️ Free practice tools ➡️ https://apps.nathanielschool.com 🎓 https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All 1000+ lessons ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com 💛 https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 https://instagram.com/jasonzac 💬 +91 77604 56847 · music@nathanielschool.com #PianoLessons #PianoTutorial #MusicTheory #BluesPiano
Learn how to harmonize any Melakarta raga on piano with Jason Zac of Nathaniel School of Music — turn 72 ragas into playable chords. 🌐 The app in this video — Melakarta Sphere, all 72 ragas in 3D, free, no signup: https://melakarta.nathanielschool.com Ever wondered how to harmonize a raga on piano? This lesson shows how the 72 Melakarta ragas are built and how to turn each one into playable chords. We walk through the logic behind the system: Sa and Pa stay fixed, the perfect fifth is always kept, and you choose from three Re, three Ga, two Ma — Shuddha Madhyama (the perfect fourth) and Prati Madhyama (the augmented/sharp fourth) — three Dha and three Ni. That simple maths gives every heptatonic scale under the sun. You'll see the twelve chakras (Indu, Netra, Agni, Veda, Bana, Rutu, Rishi, Vasu, Brahma, Disi, Rudra, Aditya) and hear how ragas map to Western modes: Kharaharapriya against Dorian and the Kafi thaat, Hanumatodi leaning Phrygian, and Mayamalavagowla (the 15th Melakarta), also called the double harmonic major. We also touch Harikambhoji (Mixolydian) and Charukesi (Mixolydian flat 6), then harmonize each raga into triads and seventh chords, including cluster and augmented shapes. This is for pianists who only know major and minor, and for Carnatic musicians curious about Western harmony. Play along, pick a raga, build its chords, and tell us your favourite in the comments. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) - https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🏡 Visit our Channel for more Tutorials & Performances - https://geni.us/NathanielYouTube ============================= ▶️ Related Videos & Playlists 📂 Indian Music Theory - Carnatic Ragas - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT-EsBVRojlfDQ078y6R438k 📚 Indian Classical Music - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT-uvkwcbt1C4RbIJ8t1n3vm 🗂️ The Major Scale Understood with ALL Intervals - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT-E6rHuGKoYQk_8-jOw3_Bh 📋 Minor Scales - Theory, Exercises & Compositions - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT_8KkjOUBofqzyhbgGkROE- 🎶 Cadences & Chord Progressions - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT_sKjWd1c7K_S55cZ15jAKI ============================= 🎓 Learn Music With Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac: https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) categorised by skill level, topic & genre all in one place: https://free-music-lessons.nathanielschool.com ⏳ Chapter markers 00:00 - What Does It Mean to Harmonize a Scale? 🎹 00:33 - The Melakarta Concept in One Idea 00:44 - Why Sa and Pa Stay Fixed 00:56 - Augmented Fourth vs Diminished Fifth 01:09 - Keeping the Perfect Fifth 01:33 - What Harmonize Really Means 🎵 01:40 - Harmonizing for Collaboration 02:12 - Scaling from Triads to Seventh Chords 02:50 - Kharaharapriya ≈ Dorian & Kafi Thaat 03:03 - Melakarta as Heptatonic Thaats 03:52 - The Melakarta Sphere Mode 🌐 04:11 - Selecting Hanumatodi 04:27 - Janya Ragas Explained 04:37 - Playing the Scale with Tanpura 05:01 - Arohana, Avarohana & Both 05:15 - Swing Feature for Western Players 05:28 - Hanumatodi Sounds Phrygian 05:57 - Reading the Interval Labels 07:07 - Brain Mode: The Mind Map 07:46 - The Chakra Navigator 07:58 - Twelve Chakras Named 08:11 - Grid & Mandala Modes 08:36 - Indu Chakra: Kanakangi 09:52 - Building Re from C 10:39 - Building Ga: Diminished to Major Third 11:25 - Netra Chakra: Very Phrygian 11:37 - Agni Chakra: Middle Eastern Colour 11:46 - Veda Chakra: All Things Minor 13:02 - Mayamalavagowla = Double Harmonic Major 13:26 - Bana Chakra: Where the Major Lives 13:37 - Harikambhoji (Mixolydian) & Charukesi 13:43 - Charukesi: Mixolydian Flat 6 🎶 14:03 - Rutu Chakra 14:12 - The Prati Madhyama Hemisphere 14:38 - Rishi to Aditya Chakras 15:30 - Listen Mode: Sing a Raga 16:46 - Drills Mode for Swaras 16:54 - Stage Mode: Kritis & Sections 17:15 - Adjusting Tempo & Instruments 18:02 - Western Mode: Visualize the Scale 18:44 - Chords for Any Raga 🎹 20:05 - Inversions & Chord Colors 20:21 - Function: Tonic, Subdominant, Dominant 20:32 - Raga Fit & Janya Chord Options 22:08 - Tanpura, Talas & Practice Setup 23:30 - Wrapping Up: Harmonize Any Raga 💰 Donate on PayPal: https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 👨👩👧👦 Follow me on Instagram: https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 Call +91 98454 65411 · 💬 WhatsApp chat +91 77604 56847 📧 Customised & Private Classes: music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music: https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #MelakartaRagas #CarnaticMusic #PianoHarmony
Learn the blues scale on piano with Jason Zac of Nathaniel School of Music — major and minor blues plus a 12 bar two-hand workout in Bb. Learn the blues scale on piano the practical way — a two-hand workout built entirely around the major blues and minor blues. Both are hexatonic (six-note) scales, and we form them step by step in the key of Bb. We start from the major and natural minor, strip the tritone to get the pentatonic, then add the blue note to make it bluesy. For the major blues you add the flat 3 to the major third; for the minor blues you add the tritone (E) from the root. We cover fingering, why Bb suits blues and horn players, and how to blend both scales for improvisation. The left hand learns the bouncy 1-5-1-6 shuffle engine, its flat-7 variation and how to run it over the 12 bar blues in a loose, staccato swing. We break down wrist and forearm technique so the left hand plays on autopilot. The right hand runs the scales one and two octaves, up and down, in swing and full triplet feels — with accents on the 2 and 4. Great for pianists who know major and minor scales and want to actually sound bluesy for jamming, composing or backing singers. Try it slowly with a shuffle backing track, then tell us in the comments if you'd like more blues lessons. The exercise uses G major and G harmonic minor, where the augmented second gives the harmonic minor its wider leap, and works on both closed thirds and spread thirds. The rhythm patterns use 16th notes, dotted notes, tied notes and rests in 4/4, with one rhythm figure for descending thirds and another for ascending thirds, starting from different scale degrees each time. For the left hand there are three options: hold the pulse on the starting note, mirror the right hand in thirds, or play the scale notes underneath the right-hand thirds.

Part 1 of our thirds exercise breakdown — G major and G harmonic minor scales worked in diatonic thirds with two rhythm patterns. Practice this daily. We also cover three left-hand approaches: holding the pulse on the starting note, mirroring the right hand in thirds, or playing the scale notes underneath the thirds in the right hand.
Learn the double harmonic major scale (Mayamalavagowla, the 15th Melakarta raga) on piano Learn the double harmonic major scale (Mayamalavagowla, the 15th Melakarta raga) on piano with Jason Zac of Nathaniel School of Music. If you normally practise only major, minor and harmonic minor scales up and down, this lesson opens a whole new sound world. Around the world this same scale has many names, and we use them all: the double harmonic major (so called because it has TWO augmented seconds, unlike the harmonic minor which has one), Bhairav thaat in Hindustani music, and the Byzantine or gypsy major scale. These alternate names are exactly what students search for. You'll play the raga one octave up and back with correct fingering (three fingers, then a cross-over), hold the Sa like a tanpura in the left hand, and try the "one extra" swara drill to reframe a 7-note scale into a comfortable 4/4 feel. We add accents to train the weaker fingers and imagine a drum groove to build musicality. Then we harmonize the raga — the real fun for pianists and guitarists. Building in thirds gives the triads: G major, A♭ major, B minor, C minor, D major ♭5, E♭ augmented (also G augmented, also B augmented), and the F# cluster chord. We extend these into seventh chords, including G major 7, A♭ major 7, B minor 7, the beautiful C minor-major 7th, the D7♭5 dominant, the E♭ major 7 ♯5 (a proper James Bond chord), and the F# cluster acting as a dominant. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) - https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🏡 Visit our Channel for more Tutorials & Performances - https://geni.us/NathanielYouTube ============================= ▶️ Related Videos & Playlists 🎬 Carnatic Swaras & Piano Finger Exercise - https://youtu.be/zO6s41NHYjI 🎯 Scales vs Keys vs Modes vs Ragas - Music Theory 🎼 - https://youtu.be/nzBEfnHCiA4 🔑 Fusion Piano: Indian Pentatonic Scale - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0zGNckOhzY 📂 Indian Music Theory - Carnatic Ragas - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT-EsBVRojlfDQ078y6R438k 📚 Indian Classical Music - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT-uvkwcbt1C4RbIJ8t1n3vm ============================= 🎓 Learn Music With Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac: https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) categorised by skill level, topic & genre all in one place: https://free-music-lessons.nathanielschool.com ⏳ Chapter markers 00:00 - Performance 00:23 - Introduction 00:51 - G Major, G Minor & Harmonic Minor 01:05 - Practising Every Scale in 12 Keys 01:22 - Scale vs Key vs Mode vs Raga 01:53 - What Is a Scale? Ever wondered why some scales sound bright while others sound dark? In this theory lesson, Jason Zac introduces a simple binary framework to organise 16 different scales into just two categories — major-esque and minor-esque — based on a single defining interval: the third. A major-esque scale always contains a major third, while a minor-esque scale always contains a flat (minor) third. From this foundation, we explore eight major-esque scales including the major scale, mixolydian, lydian, lydian dominant, harmonic major, phrygian dominant (double harmonic major), and mixolydian flat 6. Each scale is built on the root A, played with supporting chord voicings, and connected to its emotional character. We then move into eight minor-esque scales: the natural minor, dorian, harmonic minor, jazz melodic minor, plus the more exotic Hungarian minor, Romanian minor, Neapolitan minor, and phrygian. You'll learn how the 6th and 7th degrees create four binary combinations within the traditional minor family, and how exotic scales introduce flat 2 and raised 4 intervals for that Eastern, Spanish, or Middle Eastern flavour. This lesson is especially valuable for composers working with Indian classical ragas, modal music, or any style where the 6th or 7th shifts between ascending and descending lines. Jason also shares ear training drills using sa-re-ga-ma syllables, pendulum-style interval singing, and chord pairings that lock each scale into your ear and fingers.

Learn how to group 16 piano scales into major-esque and minor-esque categories using the third interval. Theory lesson by Jason Zac.
Learn to play piano thirds & sixths cleanly with legato and staccato articulation across A major, E♭ major and harmonic minor scales. In this piano lesson, Jason Zac from Nathaniel School of Music walks you through a focused articulation workout using thirds and sixths across major and harmonic minor scales. If you've been struggling with uneven parallel intervals, this exercise will tighten up your finger control and coordination. We start by mapping out the third intervals in A major — visualising every white-black, black-white and white-white combination on the keys. Then we work through four articulation styles: pure legato, pure staccato, legato-staccato pairs, and staccato-legato pairs. Each one trains a different muscle and a different listening skill. Next we shift to E♭ major to challenge your fingering on a flat-key scale, and then dive into the harmonic minor versions of both keys. The augmented 2nd interval in harmonic minor makes the thirds noticeably trickier — exactly why it's such a valuable practice tool. Finally, we explore sixth intervals as inverted thirds and finish with a two-hand harmonisation exercise where the left hand harmonises the right hand in sixths, giving you real harmonic awareness while practising technique. Throughout the lesson we focus on steady time, dynamics, and smooth voice-leading. Learn piano, theory, and ear training through Uptown Funk — D Dorian, 7th chord inversions, voice leading & 4 funky comping patterns. What if you could learn piano, music theory, ear training, AND arranging — all from one song? In this lesson, Jason Zac uses Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars as a vehicle for all four goals at once. The twist? There's no piano in the song. We start by identifying the mode (D Dorian) and the two chords driving the whole track: D minor 7th and G dominant 7th. You'll learn minors in packs of four — Natural, Harmonic, Dorian and Melodic — so you'll instantly recognise the funky minor sound anywhere. Then we get into the piano work: all four inversions of Dm7 and G7, voice leading through common tones, and rhythm patterns including block chords, octave toggling bass, staccato funk articulation, and triplet (tresio) feels. Every shape connects to a usable groove. Next comes the song ingredient breakdown — vocal bass line on a 16th-note grid, Bruno Mars's vocal as the rhythmic engine, plus guitar comping, horn harmonies and the bass guitar. You'll learn to reverse-engineer a stereo file like a DAW, then translate those ingredients into FOUR funky right-hand piano patterns paired with a transcribed bass line. Ready to practise smarter? Master harmony with this incredibly simple trick: play just 1 third interval in the right hand and 12 bass notes in the left to unlock almost every chord you will ever need on the piano. In this lesson, Jason Zac breaks down the theory and shows you how to apply it across all styles. Ever wondered how pro pianists build those rich, jazzy voicings that sound so much more interesting than basic triads? It all comes down to one tiny interval — the third. In this lesson, Jason breaks down a powerful bottom-up harmony approach that will change how you think about chord building forever. Using just two notes (A and C for the minor third, A and C# for the major third) anchored in your right hand, you'll learn how to harmonize them with 12 different bass notes underneath. The result? Triads, slash chords, seventh shells, jazz extensions, diminished and augmented voicings — all from the same two notes on top. We cover specific voicings like F major, Am/E, Dm7, D7sus4, G11, Bbmaj9, Bb minor major 9 (the James Bond chord), F# diminished, B7b9, A7/G Lydian, Eb half-diminished and many more. You'll also learn how to make 'clashing' bass notes actually work by thickening the harmony and using arpeggios instead of block chords. This lesson is perfect for intermediate pianists who want to break out of simple triads, understand jazz harmony, and finally figure out how to voice chords like the pros. Heavy theory content, practical demonstrations, and clear explanations throughout. If you want structured 1-on-1 instruction or our full video course library, links are in the pinned comment. Learn 5 left hand piano patterns across 5 keys using one harmonic concept — explore rock, blues, and folk grooves with Jason Zac. Ever wondered how one simple harmonic idea can sound like five completely different genres? In this lesson, Jason Zac walks you through five left hand piano patterns across five different keys — each one shifting the entire vibe of your music. We start with a power chord foundation and build outward using 6ths, 7ths, major and minor intervals. Because the third is left undefined, these voicings work in both major and minor contexts — giving you incredible harmonic flexibility for improvisation. You'll explore patterns in E, G#, Ab, F#, B, and A — moving through rock, blues, folk, and even experimental time signatures like 5/8 and 7/8. Each key gets its own rhythmic pattern with carefully placed accents and gaps that change the entire feel of your playing. A highlight of this lesson is Jason's tip on right hand improvisation: sing your melody first, then play it. This unlocks new rhythmic and melodic ideas that your fingers alone might never discover. Learn to play triplets on piano with this melodic exercise — eighth note, quarter note & sextuplet triplets explained with fingering & licks. Triplets are the heartbeat of so much music — especially in Indian, sub-continental, and Eastern traditions — yet they're one of the most under-taught rhythms in Western piano curriculum. In this lesson, Jason Zac walks you through a complete triplet exercise built around a beautiful B minor melody. You'll learn the four key types of triplets: eighth note triplets (the standard), sextuplets (divide by six), quarter note triplets (the hemiola), and half note triplets. Jason demonstrates how to transition smoothly between semiquaver (divide-by-four) feel and triplet (divide-by-three) feel — a skill that instantly elevates your rhythmic vocabulary. The melodic exercise itself moves through B minor, D major over F#, and A major (with an added 4th), incorporating harmonized thirds, dominant chord licks, and tasteful Indian-style grace notes. You'll get detailed piano fingering for tricky passages across black notes, plus a simplified beginner version if the ornamental playing feels too advanced right now. This lesson is especially valuable if you're an Indian, Sri Lankan, Nepali, or other Eastern musician — or anyone who wants to internalise triplets beyond just counting "one-and-a, two-and-a." Jason also touches on konakol syllables (thakita) and how different cultures accent triplets uniquely. Hit subscribe, turn on the bell, and let us know in the comments which type of triplet you find hardest to feel! 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) - https://www.nathanielschool.com/members-videos 🏡 Visit our Channel for more Tutorials & Performances - https://geni.us/NathanielYouTube ============================= ▶️ Related Videos & Playlists 🎬 Melodic Arpeggios: Accent Patterns & Chords - https://youtu.be/DbL4DJnwIhA 🎯 Sixteenth Notes Exercise: Music Theory & Piano - https://youtu.be/0eYCe2Wtt8c 🔑 Syncopated Rhythms: Folk Melody for Beginners - https://youtu.be/6elW86pxMkI 💡 Piano Rhythm Lesson: Learn Semiquavers & Triplets - https://youtu.be/1NJKVwzfluI 📂 Minor Scales - Theory, Exercises & Compositions - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT_8KkjOUBofqzyhbgGkROE- ============================= 🎓 Learn Music With Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac: https://www.nathanielschool.com/ 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) categorised by skill level, topic & genre all in one place: https://www.nathanielschool.com/free-tutorials ⏳ Chapter markers 00:00 - Performance 00:36 - Why Triplets Matter for Eastern Musicians 00:57 - What Are Triplets? Learn old-school ear training by singing intervals first and checking on piano. Build real relative pitch across major, minor & modal scales. Most musicians practise ear training the wrong way — by playing along with the piano or guitar while singing. That's mimicking, not hearing. In this lesson, Jason Zac from Nathaniel School of Music shares the old-school approach: sing the note FIRST, then play your instrument only to check the answer. We begin by getting Sa wired into your system using a G drone or tanpura, then work through the full major scale using Indian swaras (Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni). You can also use movable-DO solfège or simple syllables like la-la or na-na — whatever keeps your brain untangled. From there we expand into Mixolydian, Dorian, natural minor, harmonic minor and melodic minor — each built by altering just a few intervals from the major scale. You'll practise singing close intervals first (Sa-Re-Sa), then widen the gap step by step (Sa-Ga-Sa, Sa-Ma-Sa, Sa-Pa-Sa) both above and below the tonic. This builds true relative pitch — the ability to hear how one note relates to another, the foundation of every melody. This isn't just an ear training drill. It's a 3D workout combining ear, theory and technique — because if you sing the right note but press the wrong key, you've still got work to do. Take breaks, stay hydrated, and try the exercise in different keys (find your preferred vocal key!). Once the order is comfortable, jumble the intervals to make it more musical and creative. If you'd like more singing-based ear training, sight singing or relative pitch lessons, drop a comment and let us know. Learn how to spice up traditional pop chord progressions using passing chords, secondary dominants, slash chords & borrowed chords on piano. Ever noticed how pop songs from the 70s, 80s and 90s feel so much richer than modern pop? That's because composers back then used classical and old-school harmonic techniques that are often forgotten today. In this lesson, Jason Zac shows you how to bring that depth back into your own playing. Starting with a plain diatonic C major progression, you'll add colour between the tonic and the relative minor using line clichés (C – G/B – Am), chromatic walk-downs, secondary dominants like E7 resolving to Am, and secondary diminished chords for that harmonic-minor flavour. Then we look at movement from I to IV (Mixolydian motion, Bb/C to F), gospel-style slash chords over a tonic pedal, and the ii–V–I with suspended dominants and tritone substitutions (Db7 replacing G7). The lesson also covers borrowed chords from the parallel minor — including the epic cadence (bVI – bVII – I) and the minor iv chord (Fm6 / D half-diminished) — plus slash chords as passing chords to create smooth chromatic bass lines. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 00:00 - Performance 00:44 - Introduction: Why Modern Pop Sounds Flat 🎹 01:28 - The Problem with One-Chord Songs 01:36 - Diatonic Chords in C Major Recap 01:54 - Adding 7ths to Diatonic Chords 02:32 - Part 1: Tonic to Relative Minor Journey 03:07 - Line Cliché Walk-Down: C – G/B – Am 🎼 04:09 - Chromatic Drop from C to A 04:25 - A Major & F/A Slash Chord Option 05:00 - Secondary Dominant: E7 to Am 05:59 - Bluesy Melodic Possibilities 07:30 - Secondary Diminished Chord to Am 08:02 - Harmonic Minor Flavour vs Blues Flavour 08:38 - Part 2: Moving from I to IV 09:24 - Mixolydian Motion: Bb/C to F 🎵 10:06 - Gm to F Subtle Approach 10:32 - Part 3: Staying on the Tonic Creatively (Gospel Slash Chords) 11:05 - Dm/C, F/C and Plagal Colour 11:55 - Using the Diminished Chord as a Pass 12:07 - Drone-Style Tonic Grooves 12:20 - Passing Chords as Rhythmic Tools 12:58 - Part 4: The ii–V–I Cadence 13:38 - Altering the ii Chord as a Dominant 14:34 - Part 5: Working with the V Chord 14:38 - Sus4 Suspensions on the Dominant 15:00 - C/G Slash Over Dominant Function 15:38 - F/G – The 11th Sound 🎶 15:55 - Tritone Substitution: Db7 for G7 17:05 - Part 6: Borrowed Chords from Minor 17:35 - Why This Cadence Works for Any Song 18:12 - The Minor iv Chord (Fm6) 18:35 - Half-Diminished ii Connection 20:15 - Part 7: Slash Chords as Passing Chords 22:21 - Why Slash Chord Resolution Feels Powerful 22:46 - Caution: Don’t Trust Google Chords ⚠️ ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🎵 Music Theory lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoTheory 🎹 All our lessons on Chord Inversions (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC 👂 Ear Training lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/EarTraining ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 Call +91 98454 65411 · 💬 WhatsApp chat +91 77604 56847 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #PassingChords #SecondaryDominants #PianoChords
Learn 2 essential broken-chord piano patterns over a G major chord progression, with left-hand variations, swing feel and accompaniment tips. Jason Zac from Nathaniel School of Music breaks down two foundational broken-chord patterns that instantly upgrade your accompaniment, worked over a beautiful G major progression (G - C - Em - D - C/G - G) using smooth second-inversion voicings around middle C. The two core patterns, Out-Two-In-One and Out-In-Out-In, cover steady pumping feels and faster swing tempos, plus volume control, accenting, triplet variations and an extra top note for richer textures. Learn the pendulum piano exercise: use just 3 notes to practise rhythmic groupings of 3, 4, 5 and 7 in B major. Jason Zac from Nathaniel School of Music breaks down the Pendulum Exercise, a simple but powerful concept that develops your rhythm, dynamics, finger independence and musical creativity all at once. You'll work in B major using just B, C# and D#, moving them in a pendulum-like pattern (1-2-3-2-1). The real learning happens when you change how you group these notes in sets of 3, 4, 5 and even 7 while keeping the same tempo and pulse, training your ear to feel rhythmic accents beyond standard time signatures. You'll also learn a 1-5-6-4 chord progression for the left hand (B - G#m - E - B/F# - F#) with quintal voicings, add2 shapes and smooth inversions, so the melody and harmony stay endlessly musical. This lesson is perfect for intermediate pianists, singers practising Carnatic or Hindustani swaras, and guitarists who want better rhythmic phrasing. It also introduces the free Pendulum App for practising keys, patterns and groupings with a built-in metronome. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 00:00 - Performance 00:54 - What Is the Pendulum Concept? 02:14 - Choosing Your 3 Notes 02:43 - The Importance of Rhythm in This Lesson 03:20 - Groupings & Accents Explained 03:41 - What is a Musical Accent? 05:24 - For Singers: Carnatic & Hindustani Swaras 06:15 - Setting Up the B Major Scale (5 Sharps) 06:35 - Choosing Your Note Set: Triads, Quartal & Sus Voicings 07:00 - The 1-5-6-4 Chord Progression in B 07:33 - Left Hand Voicings: Power Chords & Fifths 08:20 - E Major as Sus2 and Add2 08:38 - B/F# Inversion & F# Voicing 09:28 - Right Hand: Quaver Groupings of 4 10:03 - Applying the Pattern Over the Progression 11:26 - Strengthening Pinky & Ring Fingers 11:45 - Staying Human in the Age of Robots 12:01 - Staying Human in the Age of Robots 12:39 - Minimum 2-Note Accents & Semiquaver Divisions 🎵 14:14 - Odd Groupings: Entering the World of 3 14:46 - Triplets vs True Pendulum Phrasing 15:46 - Recycling the Cycle: 12 Notes to Reset 16:41 - Same Pulse, Different Groupings ✨ 17:41 - Syncing Left Hand to the New Accents 18:09 - Groupings of 5: Where It Gets Tricky 19:54 - Groupings of 7: The Ultimate Challenge 20:34 - Creating Musical Illusions with One Pattern 21:08 - Triplets Trap: Avoiding Predictable Patterns 22:35 - Reimagining Songs in Pendulum Phrasing 23:00 - 3-3-2 Tresillo Groupings 23:13 - Taking It to Triads Over the Progression 23:38 - Andalusian Cadence in Groupings of 3 24:25 - Practising Away from the Piano 🪵 24:42 - Table-Top Finger Workouts 25:42 - Using the Pendulum App for Self-Study 26:05 - Using the Pendulum App for Self-Study ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🎵 Music Theory lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoTheory 🎹 All our lessons on Chord Inversions (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC 👂 Ear Training lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/EarTraining ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 Call +91 98454 65411 · 💬 WhatsApp chat +91 77604 56847 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #PendulumExercise #RhythmicGroupings #PianoExercise
Learn to harmonize piano and voice using thirds in G harmonic minor. Build musicianship with tenor and alto harmony exercises. Learn the art of piano and voice harmony with this comprehensive lesson on coordinating melody and harmony between two instruments. You'll discover how to play piano melody while singing harmonic thirds, just like legendary groups such as The Beatles, ABBA, and Queen. This lesson focuses on G harmonic minor scale harmonization using tenor and alto thirds. You'll learn the difference between upper thirds (tenor) and lower thirds (alto), understanding why tenor harmony is traditionally played an octave below the soprano melody for optimal sound quality. Practice exercises include ascending and descending scale harmonization, where your right hand plays the melody while your voice sings the corresponding third intervals. The lesson covers both major and minor thirds within the harmonic minor structure, helping you develop crucial ear training and coordination skills. Advanced musicians will appreciate the theoretical foundation covering heptatonic scale harmonization and the practical application of these concepts in performance settings. This technique builds overall musicianship and prepares you for more complex vocal and instrumental arrangements. Flip the traditional roles — put a captivating bass melody in the left hand and let the right hand drive the rhythm. Jason Zac from Nathaniel School of Music shows you how to flip the usual piano roles by creating compelling bass melodies in the left hand while the right hand provides rhythmic support, breaking down stepwise and leapwise melodic motion. You'll learn the differences between upper-register and bass-register melody construction, using D minor and D hybrid minor scales, and when to use stepwise motion versus larger leaps for maximum impact. The lesson covers three right-hand rhythm patterns — pulse, tresillo and 3+5 accents — while the left hand develops from simple chord roots to melodic lines with octaves, fifths and thirds, moving through progressions like D minor, G minor 6th, E minor 7b5 and A7 variations. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 00:00 - Performance 00:44 - Introduction & Unconventional Bass Melody Preview 🎵 01:05 - Why Bass Register Melody is Different 01:19 - Stepwise vs Leapwise Motion Explained 02:15 - The Role of Rhythm in Bass Melody 02:26 - Right Hand vs Left Hand Role Reversal 04:51 - D Hybrid Minor Scale Introduction 05:26 - Harmonic Minor vs Natural Minor Differences 06:23 - Chord Progression Breakdown: D Minor Foundation 06:36 - G Minor 6th Chord Explanation 06:52 - Right Hand Pattern 1: Pulse Rhythm 07:02 Right Hand Pattern 2: Tresillo Technique 07:39 - E Minor 7th Flat 5 Chord Theory 07:53 - A7 Resolution Back to D Minor 09:20 - Right Hand Pattern 3: 3+5 Accent Combo 11:04 - Left Hand Basics: Chord Roots with Octaves 14:18 - LH Pattern 2 14:50 - Leapwise Motion Bass Line Construction 15:35 - Stepwise Motion Bass Alternatives 16:28 - Chord Tone Selection Strategy 17:48 - Dotted Rhythm Feel Modifications 18:52 - Accessing Off-Beat Rhythms 20:14 - Creative Passing Notes Technique 21:28 - Perforamce Melody Breakdown 22:35 - Bringing Both Hands Together 24:07 - Complete Melody Performance - Slow Tempo 25:16 - Role Reversal Concept Summary 25:30 - Engine vs Driver Hand Philosophy 25:36 Rhythm Modifications and Feel Changes 26:38 - Composed Melody Final Performance ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🎵 Music Theory lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoTheory 🥁 All our lessons on Rhythm (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT85tF6cGvZK6jc5u6yZg5uU 🎹 All our lessons on Chord Inversions (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 Call +91 98454 65411 · 💬 WhatsApp chat +91 77604 56847 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #BassMelody #LeftHandPiano #PianoTutorial

Learn to play two original folk melodies with off-beat rhythms, swing feel and professional ornamentation techniques for modern piano playing. Jason Zac from Nathaniel School of Music teaches two original compositions in G major that focus on off-beat playing, swing rhythms and the subdivisions that make folk music so engaging. You'll learn the essential skills for conquering tied notes, rhythmic anticipation, and playing on the 'ands' and 'ees' of each beat — crucial for modern pop, folk and contemporary styles where notes don't always fall predictably on the downbeat. You'll explore multiple ornamentation strategies including thickening melodies with roots and fifths, adding grace notes and turns, incorporating thirds for harmonic support, and using rhythmic embellishments. The lesson builds progressively from simple versions to fully ornamented arrangements. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 00:00 - Performance 01:12 - Introduction & Two Folk Melody Previews 🎵 01:36 - G Major Scale Setup & Chord Progressions 03:55 - Melody 1: Basic Version with Simple Pulse 04:22 - Tranpsing melody to other scale 04:49 - Understanding Swing vs Straight Rhythms 05:11 - Breaking Down Off-Beat Subdivisions 05:50 - Simplified Melody 1 Practice Version 06:32 - Adding Rhythmic Complexity Step by Step 07:22 - Melody 1: Full Original Version 07:59 - Left Hand Chord Variations & Bass Lines 08:36 - Creative Left Hand Arrangements 09:06 - Moving Chords to Middle C Range 09:38 - Melody 2: Introduction with Pickup Notes 10:10 - Melody 2: Part B Introduction 11:03 - Pick-up Notes & Syncopation 11:24 - Ornamentation Strategy 1: Root & Fifth 12:15 - Thickening Melody Techniques 13:51 - Grace Notes & Turn Ornaments 🎶 14:26 - Adding Thirds for Harmony 15:23 - Celtic & Indian Turn Variations 17:04 - Triplet Feel Integration 17:30 - Left Hand Thirds & Chord Roots 18:45 - Becoming a Chameleon Player 19:31 - Piano vs Other Instruments 20:10 - Course Information & Resources ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🎵 Music Theory lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoTheory 🎹 All our lessons on Chord Inversions (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC 👂 Ear Training lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/EarTraining ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 Call +91 98454 65411 · 💬 WhatsApp chat +91 77604 56847 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #FolkPiano #Syncopation #PianoOrnaments
Learn piano basslines with 10 grooves and rhythm patterns. This piano bassline tutorial shows how to turn an F minor pentatonic pattern into disco, salsa, funk, and other grooves using quavers, sixteenth notes, triplets, and a steady right-hand chord pulse. Learn to create multiple groovy F minor pentatonic bassline variations across quavers, sixteenth notes and triplets, with a steady right-hand pulse of chords. Jason Zac from Nathaniel School of Music unlocks the secrets of creating groovy, danceable basslines on piano. You'll learn why dividing beats into more subdivisions while playing less creates the perfect groove that makes people want to move. You'll discover 10+ distinct rhythm variations of the same bassline, each transformed by a different time feel — from simple quavers to complex sixteenth-note patterns and even triplets. You'll explore the essential ingredients of a compelling bassline: root, octave, fifth and minor third, plus embellishment notes that add flavour without overwhelming the groove. You'll also develop rock-solid timing with pulse chords in the right hand, and learn cluster chords, floating thirds and melodic licks that complement your bassline. The lesson emphasises body movement and internal pulse over metronome dependence. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 00:00 - Performance 00:46 - Introduction & Bassline Preview 🎹 01:35 - What the Right Hand can do? 02:54 - Heptatonic Scales - Natural Minor & Dorian 03:28 - Essential Ingredients of Groovy Basslines 05:18 - Essential Ingredients of Groovy Basslines 06:03 - The Groove Formula: Divide More, Play Less 06:42 - Foundational Notes: Root, Octave & Fifth 07:49 - Adding Minor Third & Embellishment Notes 09:21 - Right Hand Pulse Chord Options 11:26 - Cluster Chords Technique 12:59 - Preparing the Right Hand 14:04 - Pattern 1: Simple Quaver Bassline 15:45 - Pattern 2: Displaced Third Variation 16:59 - Pattern 3: Introducing Sixteenth Notes 18:12 - Pattern 4: Advanced 16th Note Rhythm 19:02 - Pattern 5: Subdivision Variation 19:56 - Son Clave Rhythm Application 🥁 20:16 - Tresillo Pattern Breakdown 22:31 - Salsa-Style Bassline Variation 23:50 - Triplet Division Concepts ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🎵 Music Theory lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoTheory 🎹 All our lessons on Chord Inversions (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC 👂 Ear Training lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/EarTraining ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 Call +91 98454 65411 · 💬 WhatsApp chat +91 77604 56847 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #PianoBasslines #PianoGroove #RhythmPatterns
