The Spanish Andalusian Cadence Every Pianist Should Know (Part 1)
The Andalusian Cadence (Dm–C–Bb–A) is the dark, Spanish/flamenco chord progression behind countless famous songs — and this lesson teaches the full theory plus how to play it on piano. In this Part 1 of an 8-part series, Jason Zac from Nathaniel School of Music breaks down the chords and inversions of the Andalusian Cadence, then explains the theory behind the harmonic and natural minor scales that give it that unmistakable Spanish colour. From there you'll practise the progression with simple block rhythm patterns and arpeggios, add swing using ghost notes, and finish with an improvisation section over the harmonic and minor blues — including a call-and-response jam you can play along with. ⏱️ Chapters 00:00 Performance 00:21 Introduction 03:13 Andalusian cadence chords & inversions 04:21 Theory of the Harmonic and Natural minor 05:59 Practicing the Andalusian Chords on piano 06:57 Basic piano rhythm patterns 07:59 Adding Swing with Ghost notes 08:54 Arpeggios with Feel 10:50 Improvisation with Harmonic & Minor Blues 14:40 Call and response Jam 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🎵 Andalusian Cadence (Full 8-Part Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9RMWaeQkDUyuhRaBQXvbyD 🎼 Music Theory ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoTheory 🎹 Arpeggios ➡️ https://geni.us/Arpeggios ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 +91 77604 56847 (Mobile & WhatsApp) 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #AndalusianCadence #FlamencoPiano #MusicTheory
