The Pendulum: Practise Piano Scales in BOTH Directions (Correct Fingering)
Using the motion of a simple pendulum, you develop a linear study technique for playing scales and modes on the piano with correct fingering and posture. Jason Zac from Nathaniel School of Music teaches the Pendulum method for scales and modes, with the right fingering and posture from the start. By adjusting the number of notes played in each direction and using pivot notes on different roots, you'll face most of the fingering challenges pianists encounter and turn a dry drill into a creative exercise. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 00:00 Introduction 00:52 Fingering 01:19 Importance of Thumb Going Up 03:29 Importance of Thumb Going Down 04:29 General rule for Thumb usage 05:25 Correct Body Posture 06:03 The Exercise 07:02 Pendulum Exercise 07:19 1 Up 1 Down 08:15 2 Up 2 Down 08:36 Pendulum Exercise with Comping 09:39 3 Up 3 Down 13:24 4 Up 4 Down 15:15 Common Mistakes to Avoid 16:05 Guitar comparison 18:05 1 Up 2 Down 19:40 2 Up 1 Down 20:22 3 Up 1 Down 22:00 4 Up 3 Down 22:38 Practice the Exercise in the Relative Modes of E 23:36 What is the Anchor Note? 31:00 Recap ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🎵 Music Theory lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoTheory 🎹 All our lessons on Chord Inversions (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC 👂 Ear Training lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/EarTraining ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 Call +91 98454 65411 · 💬 WhatsApp chat +91 77604 56847 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #PianoScales #PianoFingering #ScalePractice
