Take one note — D — and the six chords that contain it: D major, D minor, G major, G minor, B♭ major and B minor. One chord alone lets you imagine many scales. Two chords narrow it down. Three chords and the scale is obvious. That is how chord charts really work: you read chords and you interpret scales. A chord is an unfinished scale. A triad gives you three notes; a scale needs seven. So the four notes you add are up to you — and that is where every scale comes from. In this lesson I build scales the unconventional way: not tone–tone–semitone, not from the modes, but from chords. One chord leaves four notes open to your imagination — D major alone gives you D major, D mixolydian, D lydian, D harmonic major, and it is also the dominant of G harmonic minor and G melodic minor. Two chords narrow it down to one or two notes: D major with G major gives you D major, D mixolydian, or G harmonic major if you make G the tonic; D major with G minor gives you the harmonic minors, melodic minors and harmonic majors; D major with B♭ major fits only one scale, and it is a beautiful one. Three chords and the scale is decided — D, G and B minor live in D major and in G major at the same time, and the functions simply swap. That is how chord charts work. You read chords and you interpret scales. You are not locked to a key signature — you let the chord, or the cadence, or the trio, dictate the scale. ✏️ Correction (05:45): I call the G minor triad “the fifth, or the dominant, of D Phrygian”. G is the FOURTH degree of D Phrygian (D E♭ F G A B♭ C) — the fifth is A — so G minor is the subdominant, the iv, of that scale. The very next sentence has it right: start from the chord and choose tonic, dominant or subdominant. Thanks to @aaditmodi1 for catching it. 📥 STUDY GUIDE + APP 🌳 CHORD TREES Pick a key and a scale and see every chord born from it — free in the browser: https://chord-trees.nathanielschool.com ▶️ WATCH NEXT Form ANY Scale in Music From 3 Perspectives: https://youtu.be/gunrSlNNiJU Major-Esque Scales You NEED To Know (Part 2): https://youtu.be/9aKo3JsXkMo Minor-Esque Scales Decoded (Part 3): https://youtu.be/_DbME-fKHiI Practice Every Scale on Piano Using Major-Minor Chord Pairs: https://youtu.be/kak4hvdjsY0 Play the Modes on Piano Using Just ONE Chord: https://youtu.be/GV3fAe9782o 🎹 LEARN WITH US Live online lessons, Bangalore centres and the Everything For Life bundle: https://nathanielschool.com 🛠 FREE PRACTICE TOOLS 25+ free browser tools for rhythm, chords, inversions, notation and ear training: https://apps.nathanielschool.com Chord Trees — every chord that fits any note: https://chord-trees.nathanielschool.com ⏱ CHAPTERS 00:00 - Performance 00:17 - Introduction: Building Scales Through Chords 🎹 00:44 - Six Major and Minor Triads Containing D 01:03 - A Triad as an Unfinished Scale 01:21 - How Two Chords Narrow the Choices 01:39 - How Three Chords Define a Scale 01:52 - Reading Chord Charts as Scale Information 02:20 - Letting Harmony Dictate the Scale 02:48 - Practice Setup at the Keyboard 03:18 - The D Chord Tree Explained 04:04 - Scales Supported by D Major 04:15 - D Major as Tonic or Dominant 04:25 - G Harmonic Minor and G Melodic Minor 05:20 - Exploring the G Minor Triad 06:00 - Dominant, Tonic and Subdominant Functions 06:27 - Bb Major Scale Possibilities 07:08 - Combining D Major and G Major 07:27 - Finding the Two Missing Notes 07:40 - D Major, D Mixolydian and Harmonic Major 08:30 - G Harmonic Major from Reinterpreted Chords 09:13 - Combining D Major and G Minor 09:28 - D7 Resolving to G Minor 10:00 - Unusual Two-Chord Scale Combinations 11:38 - D Major, G Major and B Minor 11:54 - Changing Functions in D Major and G Major 12:55 - D Minor, G Minor and Bb Major 13:35 - D Harmonic Minor or Natural Minor? 14:09 - Applying the Method to Improvisation and Composition 💛 SUPPORT THESE FREE LESSONS PayPal: https://paypal.me/jasonzac?locale.x=en_GB&country.x=IN UPI: jasonzac-1@okhdfcbank (Jason Zac) 📩 TALK TO US WhatsApp: https://wa.me/917760456847 Instagram: https://instagram.com/jasonzac · https://instagram.com/nathanielschool #ChordScales #PianoScales #MusicTheory
Learn to play triplets on piano with this melodic exercise — eighth note, quarter note & sextuplet triplets explained with fingering & licks. Triplets are the heartbeat of so much music — especially in Indian, sub-continental, and Eastern traditions — yet they're one of the most under-taught rhythms in Western piano curriculum. In this lesson, Jason Zac walks you through a complete triplet exercise built around a beautiful B minor melody. You'll learn the four key types of triplets: eighth note triplets (the standard), sextuplets (divide by six), quarter note triplets (the hemiola), and half note triplets. Jason demonstrates how to transition smoothly between semiquaver (divide-by-four) feel and triplet (divide-by-three) feel — a skill that instantly elevates your rhythmic vocabulary. The melodic exercise itself moves through B minor, D major over F#, and A major (with an added 4th), incorporating harmonized thirds, dominant chord licks, and tasteful Indian-style grace notes. You'll get detailed piano fingering for tricky passages across black notes, plus a simplified beginner version if the ornamental playing feels too advanced right now. This lesson is especially valuable if you're an Indian, Sri Lankan, Nepali, or other Eastern musician — or anyone who wants to internalise triplets beyond just counting "one-and-a, two-and-a." Jason also touches on konakol syllables (thakita) and how different cultures accent triplets uniquely. Hit subscribe, turn on the bell, and let us know in the comments which type of triplet you find hardest to feel! 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) - https://www.nathanielschool.com/members-videos 🏡 Visit our Channel for more Tutorials & Performances - https://geni.us/NathanielYouTube ============================= ▶️ Related Videos & Playlists 🎬 Melodic Arpeggios: Accent Patterns & Chords - https://youtu.be/DbL4DJnwIhA 🎯 Sixteenth Notes Exercise: Music Theory & Piano - https://youtu.be/0eYCe2Wtt8c 🔑 Syncopated Rhythms: Folk Melody for Beginners - https://youtu.be/6elW86pxMkI 💡 Piano Rhythm Lesson: Learn Semiquavers & Triplets - https://youtu.be/1NJKVwzfluI 📂 Minor Scales - Theory, Exercises & Compositions - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT_8KkjOUBofqzyhbgGkROE- ============================= 🎓 Learn Music With Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac: https://www.nathanielschool.com/ 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) categorised by skill level, topic & genre all in one place: https://www.nathanielschool.com/free-tutorials ⏳ Chapter markers 00:00 - Performance 00:36 - Why Triplets Matter for Eastern Musicians 00:57 - What Are Triplets? Learn 2 essential broken-chord piano patterns over a G major chord progression, with left-hand variations, swing feel and accompaniment tips. Jason Zac from Nathaniel School of Music breaks down two foundational broken-chord patterns that instantly upgrade your accompaniment, worked over a beautiful G major progression (G - C - Em - D - C/G - G) using smooth second-inversion voicings around middle C. The two core patterns, Out-Two-In-One and Out-In-Out-In, cover steady pumping feels and faster swing tempos, plus volume control, accenting, triplet variations and an extra top note for richer textures. On the left hand you'll go beyond simple roots with octaves, root-fifth toggles, passing bass notes and ghost notes, even singing chord tones while you accompany yourself. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 00:00 - Performance 00:59 - Introduction to Broken Chords 🎹 01:35 - What Is a Broken Chord? 01:45 - Arpeggios vs Block Chords vs Broken Chords 02:56 - The G Major Chord Progression Overview 03:24 - Building the Chords Around Middle C 03:29 - Second Inversion of G Major 03:36 - Gliding to C Major with Common Tones 03:55 - E Minor Voicing 04:00 - D Major Quick Change 04:06 - C Over G Slash Chord 04:19 - Playing the Progression as Block Chords 04:48 - Finding a Safe Practice Tempo 05:02 - Tip: Think Ahead to the Next Chord 06:11 - Pattern 1: Out-Two-In-One Explained 🎼 06:26 - Counting in Eighth Notes 06:53 - Volume Control & Accenting Downbeats 07:55 - Applying Pattern 1 to the Full Progression 08:05 - Left Hand: Single Roots vs Octaves 08:43 - Bringing in a Melody on Top 09:32 - Pattern 2: Out-In-Out-In Explained 10:23 - Left Hand Octave Toggling Technique 11:00 - Comparing Pattern 1 and Pattern 2 11:10 - Adding Swing Feel with Triplets 11:45 - Emphasising Beats 2 and 4 12:04 - Advanced: Stacking Extra Top Notes 12:36 - Toggling Root and Fifth in the Left Hand 12:58 - Which Pattern Works Best for Swing? 13:15 - Songs That Fit These Patterns 13:28 - Singing Chord Tones While Playing 🎤 14:21 - Practising in E Major 14:40 - Quicker Chord Changes Within the Bar 15:11 - Left Hand Passing Bass Notes 15:30 - Adding Ghost Notes for Texture 16:01 - Broken Chords in 3/4 Time 16:23 - Left Hand Broken with Right Hand Melody 16:42 - Outro & Final Thoughts ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🎵 Music Theory lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoTheory 🎹 All our lessons on Chord Inversions (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC 👂 Ear Training lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/EarTraining ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 +91 77604 56847 (Mobile & WhatsApp) 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #BrokenChords #PianoAccompaniment #PianoLesson
Learn the pendulum piano exercise: use just 3 notes to practise rhythmic groupings of 3, 4, 5 and 7 in B major. Jason Zac from Nathaniel School of Music breaks down the Pendulum Exercise, a simple but powerful concept that develops your rhythm, dynamics, finger independence and musical creativity all at once. You'll work in B major using just B, C# and D#, moving them in a pendulum-like pattern (1-2-3-2-1). The real learning happens when you change how you group these notes in sets of 3, 4, 5 and even 7 while keeping the same tempo and pulse, training your ear to feel rhythmic accents beyond standard time signatures. You'll also learn a 1-5-6-4 chord progression for the left hand (B - G#m - E - B/F# - F#) with quintal voicings, add2 shapes and smooth inversions, so the melody and harmony stay endlessly musical. This lesson is perfect for intermediate pianists, singers practising Carnatic or Hindustani swaras, and guitarists who want better rhythmic phrasing. It also introduces the free Pendulum App for practising keys, patterns and groupings with a built-in metronome. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 00:00 - Performance 00:54 - What Is the Pendulum Concept? 02:14 - Choosing Your 3 Notes 02:43 - The Importance of Rhythm in This Lesson 03:20 - Groupings & Accents Explained 03:41 - What is a Musical Accent? 05:24 - For Singers: Carnatic & Hindustani Swaras 06:15 - Setting Up the B Major Scale (5 Sharps) 06:35 - Choosing Your Note Set: Triads, Quartal & Sus Voicings 07:00 - The 1-5-6-4 Chord Progression in B 07:33 - Left Hand Voicings: Power Chords & Fifths 08:20 - E Major as Sus2 and Add2 08:38 - B/F# Inversion & F# Voicing 09:28 - Right Hand: Quaver Groupings of 4 10:03 - Applying the Pattern Over the Progression 11:26 - Strengthening Pinky & Ring Fingers 11:45 - Staying Human in the Age of Robots 12:01 - Staying Human in the Age of Robots 12:39 - Minimum 2-Note Accents & Semiquaver Divisions 🎵 14:14 - Odd Groupings: Entering the World of 3 14:46 - Triplets vs True Pendulum Phrasing 15:46 - Recycling the Cycle: 12 Notes to Reset 16:41 - Same Pulse, Different Groupings ✨ 17:41 - Syncing Left Hand to the New Accents 18:09 - Groupings of 5: Where It Gets Tricky 19:54 - Groupings of 7: The Ultimate Challenge 20:34 - Creating Musical Illusions with One Pattern 21:08 - Triplets Trap: Avoiding Predictable Patterns 22:35 - Reimagining Songs in Pendulum Phrasing 23:00 - 3-3-2 Tresillo Groupings 23:13 - Taking It to Triads Over the Progression 23:38 - Andalusian Cadence in Groupings of 3 24:25 - Practising Away from the Piano 🪵 24:42 - Table-Top Finger Workouts 25:42 - Using the Pendulum App for Self-Study 26:05 - Using the Pendulum App for Self-Study ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🎵 Music Theory lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoTheory 🎹 All our lessons on Chord Inversions (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC 👂 Ear Training lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/EarTraining ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 +91 77604 56847 (Mobile & WhatsApp) 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #PendulumExercise #RhythmicGroupings #PianoExercise
Learn to play and count odd time signatures like 5/4, 7/4 and 10/4. Jason breaks down 3 practical methods to feel complex rhythms naturally. Jason demonstrates the difference between simply counting beats versus truly feeling musical cycles. Learn to play two original folk melodies with off-beat rhythms, swing feel and professional ornamentation techniques for modern piano playing. Jason Zac from Nathaniel School of Music teaches two original compositions in G major that focus on off-beat playing, swing rhythms and the subdivisions that make folk music so engaging. You'll learn the essential skills for conquering tied notes, rhythmic anticipation, and playing on the 'ands' and 'ees' of each beat — crucial for modern pop, folk and contemporary styles where notes don't always fall predictably on the downbeat. You'll explore multiple ornamentation strategies including thickening melodies with roots and fifths, adding grace notes and turns, incorporating thirds for harmonic support, and using rhythmic embellishments. Nail all 24 major and minor chords with this chromatic second-inversion piano exercise. Learn voice leading, block chords, arpeggios, smooth chord progressions, and how to practise every major and minor triad across the keyboard. Learn to practise all 12 major and 12 minor chords in second inversion using chromatic voice-leading patterns, block chords and arpeggios. Jason Zac from Nathaniel School of Music unlocks the power of second-inversion triads with a chromatic exercise that covers all 12 major and 12 minor chords, focusing on voice leading that creates smooth, musical progressions. You'll discover why second inversions are so effective for voice leading — with the root in the middle of the chord, you create harmonic movements that sound more sophisticated than root-position progressions. You'll learn to identify major and minor thirds quickly by asking questions like 'C is the major third of which triad?' You'll practise multiple patterns including block chords, high-low-middle-low arpeggios and reinforced-melody techniques. Each chromatic step reveals two chords — one major and one minor — creating 24 total progressions that flow beautifully together while sharpening your ear. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 00:00 - Performance 00:54 - Introduction to Second Inversion Triads 🎹 01:09 - Why Choose Second Inversion for Voice Leading 01:26 - Understanding Root Position vs Inversions 01:49 - The Chromatic Climbing Exercise Overview 02:17 - Major vs Minor Third Identification 03:24 - Starting with C: Ab Major and A Minor 05:23 - Block Chord Practice Pattern 05:39 - High-Low-Middle-Low Arpeggio Pattern 🎵 05:56 - Reinforcing the Melody Note Technique 06:51 - C# Progression: A Major to Bb Minor 07:49 - Left Hand with Chord Roots 08:24 - D Progression: Bb Major to B Minor 08:47 - D# Progression: B Major to C Minor 09:56 - E Progression: C Major to C# Minor 10:19 - F Progression: Db Major to D Minor 11:17 - F# Progression: D Major to Eb Minor 11:36 - G Progression: Eb Major to E Minor 11:49 - G# Progression: E Major to F Minor 12:04 - A Progression: F Major to F# Minor 13:19 - A# Progression: F# Major to G Minor 13:34 - B Progression: G Major to G# Minor 14:10 - Completing the Chromatic Circle 14:35 - Left Hand Root Movement Practice 16:12 - Ear Training with Major/Minor Thirds 16:23 - Chord Trees Composition Concept 🌳 16:41 - Practice Tips for All Skill Levels ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🎵 Music Theory lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoTheory 🎹 All our lessons on Chord Inversions (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC 👂 Ear Training lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/EarTraining ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 +91 77604 56847 (Mobile & WhatsApp) 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #ChordInversions #PianoTriads #VoiceLeading
Master piano hand independence with progressive Bb major arpeggio exercises, chord inversions and rhythmic patterns for intermediate to advanced players. Jason Zac from Nathaniel School of Music walks you through the High-Low-Middle-Low (HLML) arpeggio pattern and chord inversions while building coordination between both hands. The lesson starts with fundamental chord arpeggios and advances through octave-stacking techniques, where you hold notes while executing finger-independence patterns. Learn how to play 3 left-hand harmonic piano patterns to make chords sound more lush and colourful. Stop playing boring root-fifth-octave patterns in your left hand; these work perfectly for pop, rock, Bollywood and contemporary piano arrangements. First, open 9th voicings built from two stacked perfect fifths, which work with both major and minor in the right hand, practised with the F9 to Eb add9 exercise. Second, floating scale tones with a root-octave anchor in a 3/4 swing pattern. Third, diatonic thirds with a static root, combining F major thirds with the root F for folk-inspired sounds and open major 7th voicings. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 00:00 - Performance 00:44 - 3 Harmonic Tools for Left Hand 01:20 - The goal of the Left hand for Harmony 01:43 - Need for Width in the Bass Register 02:01 - The Root - Octave Left Hand Support 02:51 - What we’ll learn in this lesson? 04:34 - Spread Ninth Chords 04:57 - Works with both Major & Minor Chords 07:41 - Spread Triads 08:27 - The Ninth Chord Exercise 09:51 - Up a Minor 3rd 10:42 - Fignering for the Left Hand 11:51 - 3/4 Pattern with Swing 12:19 - F Major Floating 13:41 - What could the Bass Movement be? 15:48 - Now for the Minor 16:56 - Modal Modulation 18:12 - Bottom up Approach 19:00 - Anchor with Thirds 19:37 - Combining the Thirds with the Root 20:08 - Drone sound with color 21:20 - Anchor on the Top with Minor 22:13 - Floating from both directions 23:28 - Recapping the lesson and preparing ahead ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🎵 Music Theory lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoTheory 🎹 All our lessons on Chord Inversions (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC 👂 Ear Training lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/EarTraining ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 +91 77604 56847 (Mobile & WhatsApp) 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #LeftHandPiano #OpenVoicings #PianoAccompaniment

Learn to practice major & minor chords using cadences and the circle of fifths. In this piano lesson, we'll explore how major and minor chords connect through cadences and the circle of fifths. You'll learn how to identify scales and modes based on simple two-chord progressions like V–I (authentic) and IV–I (plagal). We'll also see how combinations like major to major, major to minor, minor to major and minor to minor create unique sounds: Major to Major gives the Ionian (Major scale), Major to Minor a Harmonic Minor feel, Minor to Major the Mixolydian, and Minor to Minor the Aeolian (Natural Minor). Finally, we'll apply this to real piano practice with inversions, smooth transitions, and a creative way to harmonize any scale. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 00:00 - Performance 00:32 - Cadences & Circle of Fifths 01:32 - Revision of the Circle of Fifths 01:49 - Perfect 5th Galore 02:13 - Perfect 4th motion 02:41 - Cadences 04:06 - Plagal Cadence 05:19 - Binary Perspective - Major & Minor Triads 05:54 - V to I - Major Scale 06:58 - V to i - Harmonic Minor 08:10 - Highlighting the Scale 08:38 - Other scales wrt this Cadence 09:14 - v to I - Mixolydian 10:07 - v to i - Natural Minor 11:17 - Plagal Cadence - 4 to 1 12:26 - Major to Minor - Dorian 13:13 - iv - I (Charukeshi) - Mixolydian b6 14:07 - Minor to Minor 14:46 - Aeolian vs Harmonic Minor 16:05 - Think and Play 16:38 - Practice Goals ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🎵 Music Theory lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoTheory 🎹 All our lessons on Chord Inversions (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC 👂 Ear Training lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/EarTraining ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 +91 77604 56847 (Mobile & WhatsApp) 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #PianoScales #Cadences #CircleOfFifths

You'll learn how to use just 5 or 6 notes to navigate complex progressions, add 'blue' notes tastefully, blend bluesy expression into mainstream harmony, and shift between relative keys, modal tricks and even classical cadences. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 0:00 - Performance 0:46 - The Pentatonic & Blues Scale 1:34 - The Popular Chord Progressions 2:15 - Essential Scale Theory 4:09 - Adding the Bluesy Note 5:03 - Minor Pentatonic & Blues 6:25 - Recap on the Keys of G & E 7:21 - Issues of the “Blue” Notes 7:49 - The Cyclic Pop Chord Progression - I V vi IV 10:12 - Sneaking in the Minor Blues 10:43 - Relative Major & Minor 11:19 - The 12 Bar Blues 14:31 - Jazz Progressions - ii V I 16:04 - vi - ii - V - I 16:42 - Minor 2-5-1 18:19 - Doo-Wop in C Major 19:41 - The Andalusian Cadence 21:01 - The Epic Rock Chord Progression (Dorian) 21:28 - i - IV Changes 23:19 - Classical Cadences 24:22 - Minor Plagal 24:56 - The Mixolydian Mode 26:29 - Line Cliche 27:46 - What does it NOT work for? ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🎵 Music Theory lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoTheory 👂 Ear Training lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/EarTraining 🎹 All our lessons on Chord Inversions (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 +91 77604 56847 (Mobile & WhatsApp) 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #PentatonicScale #BluesScale #PianoImprovisation
