Every seventh and ninth chord from one idea: keep the root in the left hand, go up a major or minor third, and play a triad or a seventh chord on top. Piano lesson with Jason Zac of Nathaniel School of Music. Major 7th = a minor triad a major third up (B minor over G). Dominant 7th = a diminished triad a major third up — and the whole blues (G7, C7, D7). Minor 7th = a major triad a minor third up. Then minor-major 7th, augmented, half-diminished and diminished. Ninths: a seventh chord a third up (B minor 7 over G = Gmaj9, B♭maj7 over G = Gm9). Dominant colours: G9, G7♭9, G7♯9. Beyond thirds: G6/9 and G13 from fourths. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 📹 Everything for Life Bundle ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ▶️ Related lessons Use SIMPLE Triads to Play COMPLEX Piano Chords: Jazz Extensions ➡️ https://youtu.be/sd7i44NVY3c Use SIMPLE Triads to Play COMPLEX Piano Chords: 7th Chords ➡️ https://youtu.be/1G6uZ0QRKN0 How to Play 9, 11 and 13 Chords on Piano ➡️ https://youtu.be/cX3wMi2jIA0 Quartal Voicings on Piano ➡️ https://youtu.be/S-_VtUP-Frc 🎓 https://nathanielschool.com 📚 Free tutorials library ➡️ https://free-music-lessons.nathanielschool.com ⏱️ Chapters 00:00 Opening performance 02:09 Major 7th 06:07 Dominant 7th 07:17 The blues ecosystem 09:21 Minor 7th 11:10 Minor-major 7th and augmented 11:51 Half-diminished and diminished 13:16 Ninths 14:23 Minor 9 and minor 11 15:24 Dominant colours 16:30 Beyond thirds - 4ths 18:09 The recipe 💰 PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 💬 WhatsApp ➡️ +91 77604 56847 ✉️ music@nathanielschool.com #PianoLessons #PianoTutorial #MusicTheory #JazzPiano
How to play piano fills between chords — octave licks over modern pop voicings, in one two-bar exercise you can take to any key. Three rich chords in the right hand — Dmaj9, F♯m7(11) and E(add4) in A major — octaves in the left, and two beats at the end of the loop for a fill in octaves. You'll learn four octave licks, a triplet fill and a semiquaver fill, B minor as a filler chord, a second F♯ minor shape, and a voicing template that moves the whole exercise to A♭ major and any other key. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com 🎛️ FREE PRACTICE TOOLS — no signup Runway — build fills, licks and runs over a chord ➡️ https://runway.nathanielschool.com Metronome with swing, triplets and semiquavers ➡️ https://metronome.nathanielschool.com ▶️ Related Lessons 🎹 Stop Playing 1-5-8 In Your Left Hand (Pop Piano) ➡️ https://youtu.be/XWGhJMxhcE4 🎹 5 Fancy Piano Chord Hacks to Transform a Simple Triad ➡️ https://youtu.be/qTkiqeE2jw0 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com 🆓 Free tutorials website — every lesson sorted by topic and level ➡️ https://free-music-lessons.nathanielschool.com ⏱️ Chapters 00:00 Performance: modern pop voicings with octave fills 01:14 Welcome: a full workout — voicings, octaves, time feels 03:05 The chords in A major: D, F♯m, E 04:10 Left hand: the root and the octave 04:43 The E chord is a placeholder for the filler 05:23 Swap in B minor: a ii–V to E 05:40 Right hand: Dmaj9 voicing (5 7 9 3) 06:04 F♯m7(11): A B E A under one thumb 07:04 E(add4): A B E G♯ 08:31 Bm7 as a filler chord on beat 3 09:15 Ghost notes and swing in the left hand 10:13 The simple three-note version 11:22 Octave fills: Lick 1 (A B A E → F♯) 12:18 Lick 2 and Lick 3, with the pedal 13:30 Recovery: land back on beat 1 14:08 The new lick 14:23 Dotted notes, triplets and semiquavers 15:45 Lick 4: A B C♯ G♯ → F♯ 15:57 Put it all together 16:27 Recap and the alternate F♯m shape 17:31 Play the whole etude again 18:29 Voicing templates: key numbers vs chord numbers 20:14 Transpose to A♭ major 21:07 A♭ improvisation with octave fills 21:43 Practice it in all 12 keys 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac · the school ➡️ https://instagram.com/nathanielschool 📞 Call +91 98454 65411 · 💬 WhatsApp chat +91 77604 56847 📧 Customised & Private Lessons ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com #PianoLessons #PianoTutorial #MusicTheory #PianoFills
Piano left hand patterns that actually sound modern — swap the root-5-octave for 9ths and 10ths, and put two cluster shapes in the right hand. Full play-along lesson in E flat major. There's an app with playback so you can keep practising long after the video is over — you don't need to come back to this video at all. When students send me demo or audition material for the intermediate courses at our school, the left hand is almost always the same thing: root, five, octave. It's a decent pattern. It grooves. But it adds no harmonic flavour, because you're still just playing one, five and one. So in this lesson we fix exactly that. The left hand moves to open 9th voicings — a perfect fifth, then another perfect fifth, with no third in it at all — on A flat, B flat and C minor. Then the chord you land on takes a 10th instead: G minor, or E flat major if you want a happier ending. In the right hand there are two shapes, and each one grows from three notes to four to five. Shape one is D, E flat, B flat. Shape two is F, B flat, D. Over an A flat chord those notes become the 13th, the 9th and the sharp 11 — which is where the colour comes from. We cover the pedal, the dynamics, and how to count the semiquavers. 🎹 LEARN WITH US — https://nathanielschool.com Online piano and music theory, beginner to advanced. 📚 EVERYTHING FOR LIFE — https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com Our full video course bundle. 🆓 A THOUSAND FREE LESSONS — https://free-music-lessons.nathanielschool.com Sorted by topic, so you can go straight to what you're stuck on. Massive piano chord voicings from one shape: hold one right-hand shape and move 12 bass notes. One shape in your right hand. Twelve different chords. Your right hand never moves. This is the neo-soul voicing trick — hold a quartal shape (C-F-Bb) and walk the bass note through all twelve notes. The same three notes become a C7sus4, a Dbmaj13, a Gm11, an Ab6/9... twelve completely different chords with twelve different emotional colours, and you learned exactly one shape. Try it free — no signup: https://bassalchemy.nathanielschool.com We start with the quartal voicing — two stacked perfect fourths, C F Bb — the sound of McCoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock and modern neo-soul. Holding that shape and moving through all 12 bass notes gives you a C7sus4, a Dbmaj13, a Gm11, an Ab 6/9, an F/A add4 and more. Instead of stacking root-third-fifth, you form major ninth and minor eleventh chords from one simple shape. We also explore open-fifth shells and a minor-triad shell (F minor: F Ab C over shifting bass), plus suspended, diminished, augmented, tritone-cluster and seventh-shell shapes. Then we use it all as an ear-training drill — one voicing, 12 bass notes, guess what you hear. This is for pianists and composers who find complex chord names intimidating, and for newcomers who want to build harmony from one shape and add melody on top. Try each voicing, then comment with the bass note you liked best. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) - https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🏡 Visit our Channel for more Tutorials & Performances - https://geni.us/NathanielYouTube ============================= ▶️ Related Videos & Playlists 📂 Bass Lines on Piano - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT_bA-24IkQ31GFjbWaN5qf8 📚 Ear Training - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT-GHvpugWvYgEuLAL4f01ZK 🗂️ Chord Voicing & Inversions - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC 📋 Spread Chords (Open Voicing) - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT_K6G85ibBIRn4K63BDlbTE 🎶 Slash Chords - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9m1V-clgZIS6fP1M_YaYLt ============================= 🎓 Learn Music With Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac: https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) categorised by skill level, topic & genre all in one place: https://free-music-lessons.nathanielschool.com ⏳ Chapter markers 💰 Donate on PayPal: https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 👨👩👧👦 Follow me on Instagram: https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 Call +91 98454 65411 · 💬 WhatsApp chat +91 77604 56847 📧 Customised & Private Classes: music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music: https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #PianoLessons #PianoTutorial #MusicTheory #QuartalVoicing #EarTraining #JazzPiano

One chord shape, four names, endless possibilities. Learn how the diminished 7th chord hides dominant 7♭9 chords, tritone subs, and two powerful resolutions. Comment 'diminished' for a free practice tool! 🛠 FREE PRACTICE TOOL - Master Key, the Diminished Seventh Laboratory. Every diminished 7th, all four resolutions, in the browser. No signup, no subscription: https://masterkey.nathanielschool.com The diminished 7th chord is arguably the most powerful chord in music — one shape with endless resolutions. In this piano tutorial we break down its theory and turn it into two practical drills you can play today. We start with the formation: a diminished 7th is minor thirds stacked on top of each other, so every inversion is another diminished 7th. That means only three of them exist across all 12 keys — B/D/F/Ab are one family, and you move up chromatically for the rest. We also separate it from the minor seventh flat five (the ii chord in a 2-5-1 minor). Then we explore the leading-tone diminished cadence: B diminished 7th resolving to C major and to A minor (its relative minor), giving you many destinations from one source. You'll see how the same shape works as a rootless dominant, turning into E7♭9, Bb7♭9, G7♭9 and Db7♭9 — four chords from one diminished 7th. Drill one climbs up (dominant 7 → diminished 7 → major or minor); drill two climbs down (diminished 7 → dominant 7 → resolution). Ideal for pianists who know major and minor chords and want a versatile harmonic tool. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) - https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🏡 Visit our Channel for more Tutorials & Performances - https://geni.us/NathanielYouTube ============================= ▶️ Related Videos & Playlists 📂 Cadences & Chord Progressions - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT_sKjWd1c7K_S55cZ15jAKI 📚 Mysterious Chord Connections - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9bd7fnB4zMsgobcFj52N31 🗂️ Jazz Lessons - Chords, Standards & Exercises - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ZCriHyNonJasffWWSCS_E 📋 Chord Voicing & Inversions - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC 🎶 My Favourite Chords of All Time - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT_BXqRCVauDnJH7oHhIv-z7 ============================= 🎓 Learn Music With Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac: https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) categorised by skill level, topic & genre all in one place: https://free-music-lessons.nathanielschool.com 💰 Donate on PayPal: https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 👨👩👧👦 Follow me on Instagram: https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 Call +91 98454 65411 · 💬 WhatsApp chat +91 77604 56847 📧 Customised & Private Classes: music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music: https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #PianoLessons #PianoTutorial #MusicTheory #DiminishedChords #PianoChords #Cadences

Learn how to spice up traditional pop chord progressions using passing chords, secondary dominants, slash chords & borrowed chords on piano. Ever noticed how pop songs from the 70s, 80s and 90s feel so much richer than modern pop? That's because composers back then used classical and old-school harmonic techniques that are often forgotten today. In this lesson, Jason Zac shows you how to bring that depth back into your own playing. Starting with a plain diatonic C major progression, you'll add colour between the tonic and the relative minor using line clichés (C – G/B – Am), chromatic walk-downs, secondary dominants like E7 resolving to Am, and secondary diminished chords for that harmonic-minor flavour. Then we look at movement from I to IV (Mixolydian motion, Bb/C to F), gospel-style slash chords over a tonic pedal, and the ii–V–I with suspended dominants and tritone substitutions (Db7 replacing G7). The lesson also covers borrowed chords from the parallel minor — including the epic cadence (bVI – bVII – I) and the minor iv chord (Fm6 / D half-diminished) — plus slash chords as passing chords to create smooth chromatic bass lines. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 00:00 - Performance 00:44 - Introduction: Why Modern Pop Sounds Flat 🎹 01:28 - The Problem with One-Chord Songs 01:36 - Diatonic Chords in C Major Recap 01:54 - Adding 7ths to Diatonic Chords 02:32 - Part 1: Tonic to Relative Minor Journey 03:07 - Line Cliché Walk-Down: C – G/B – Am 🎼 04:09 - Chromatic Drop from C to A 04:25 - A Major & F/A Slash Chord Option 05:00 - Secondary Dominant: E7 to Am 05:59 - Bluesy Melodic Possibilities 07:30 - Secondary Diminished Chord to Am 08:02 - Harmonic Minor Flavour vs Blues Flavour 08:38 - Part 2: Moving from I to IV 09:24 - Mixolydian Motion: Bb/C to F 🎵 10:06 - Gm to F Subtle Approach 10:32 - Part 3: Staying on the Tonic Creatively (Gospel Slash Chords) 11:05 - Dm/C, F/C and Plagal Colour 11:55 - Using the Diminished Chord as a Pass 12:07 - Drone-Style Tonic Grooves 12:20 - Passing Chords as Rhythmic Tools 12:58 - Part 4: The ii–V–I Cadence 13:38 - Altering the ii Chord as a Dominant 14:34 - Part 5: Working with the V Chord 14:38 - Sus4 Suspensions on the Dominant 15:00 - C/G Slash Over Dominant Function 15:38 - F/G – The 11th Sound 🎶 15:55 - Tritone Substitution: Db7 for G7 17:05 - Part 6: Borrowed Chords from Minor 17:35 - Why This Cadence Works for Any Song 18:12 - The Minor iv Chord (Fm6) 18:35 - Half-Diminished ii Connection 20:15 - Part 7: Slash Chords as Passing Chords 22:21 - Why Slash Chord Resolution Feels Powerful 22:46 - Caution: Don’t Trust Google Chords ⚠️ ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🎵 Music Theory lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoTheory 🎹 All our lessons on Chord Inversions (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC 👂 Ear Training lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/EarTraining ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 Call +91 98454 65411 · 💬 WhatsApp chat +91 77604 56847 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #PassingChords #SecondaryDominants #PianoChords
Master melodic arpeggios with rhythmic accents in this advanced piano tutorial, including 3-3-2 Tresillo patterns and finger independence. Jason Zac from Nathaniel School of Music shows you how to transform standard arpeggio exercises into musical, flowing patterns that sound professional, combining traditional technique with rhythmic accents and groove. You'll learn the Tresillo rhythm (3-3-2) and other groupings that add sophisticated syncopation, playing melody, harmony and arpeggiated accompaniment at once in one hand while developing finger independence. Learn to play melody and harmony simultaneously in one hand with finger-independence exercises and chord progressions on piano. Jason Zac from Nathaniel School of Music breaks down the advanced technique of playing melody and harmony at the same time in one hand, with exercises that transform your playing ability. You'll harmonise a simple three-note melody (Ab-Bb-C) with major 7ths, minor, augmented and suspended chords, each creating a different colour while keeping the same melodic landing note. Through pulsing techniques, chord blocking and targeted drills, you'll strengthen weaker fingers and keep melodic control with your pinky, opening up new possibilities for solo piano arrangements and improvisation. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 00:00 - Performance 00:36 - Introduction & Musical Preview 🎹 00:51 - The Core Melody: A♭-B♭-C Pattern 01:04 - Understanding the Chord Progression 01:49 - Finger Positioning & Hand Setup 03:38 - Exercise 1: A♭ Major with Melody 05:00 - Exercise 1: A♭ Major with Melody 05:44 - Finger Independence Workout #1 06:45 - Adding F Minor to the Progression 07:30 - D♭ Major 7th Chord Integration 🎵 08:21 - Working with Minor Major 7th Chords 09:51 - Advanced E♭ Key Chord Techniques: Slash, Aug & 9th Chords 🎹 10:14 - C Sus4 to C Major Resolution 11:04 - Complete First Line Practice 11:45 - Piano + Strings Layering Tips 🎼 12:15 - Train the Top Finger (Pinky) 12:55 - Full Progression Performance 13:37 - Transposition to Other Keys 13:55 - Course Information & Next Steps ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🎵 Music Theory lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoTheory 🎹 All our lessons on Chord Inversions (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC 👂 Ear Training lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/EarTraining ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 Call +91 98454 65411 · 💬 WhatsApp chat +91 77604 56847 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #MelodyAndChords #FingerIndependence #SoloPiano

Starting with an Ab major framework, Jason Zac demonstrates how to create harmonies using triads, seventh chords, extensions, slash chords, relative major-minor relationships, and exotic voicings. You'll learn how to make any note sound good with every other note in music, including challenging intervals like minor seconds (F to F#) and tritones. Discover techniques for using dominant seventh chords with alterations, augmented chords, diminished voicings, and modal interchange to create mysterious, calm, tense, or cinematic sounds. Topics covered include chord trees, voice leading, inversions, relative chord relationships, altered extensions (b9, #5, b5, #11), and how to think beyond traditional scales for composition and reharmonization. Perfect for composers, arrangers, pianists, and anyone looking to expand their harmonic vocabulary beyond basic progressions. Learn to Transpose Any Song in “Real-Time”: It Came Upon a Midnight Clear (Christmas Carol) | Piano Theory Transpose It Came Upon a Midnight Clear to all 12 keys using intervals, ear training & theory 🎄 Explore Our Complete Christmas Collection - Visit our Christmas website where all tutorials are organized by skill level and genre for easy navigation. 🎹 Join Our Christmas Workshops This Season - We're running special workshops focused on ear training, music theory, transcription, and Christmas repertoire. Perfect for students and teachers who want to elevate their musicality during the holiday season. 🎓 Ready for Structured Learning in the New Year? - If you want to build a comprehensive music education tailored to your skill level, consider enrolling in a semester-based course at Nathaniel School of Music. In this comprehensive piano tutorial, learn how to transpose "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear"—and really, any song—to all 12 keys without relying on sheet music or chord charts. The key to successful transposition is understanding three things: intervals (, chord function , and how each chord relates to the previous one. When you internalize these concepts, you can transpose in real-time at the piano without rewriting anything.We break down the entire piece systematically: The AABA song structure The secondary dominants (V/V progressions) that add harmonic color. The beautiful modulation to the relative minor in the B section, featuring melodic minor flavors with that characteristic raised 6th and 7th. But here's what makes this truly special: every key feels different and inspires different ideas. A♭ major might sound sophisticated and hymn-like. C major feels bright and folk-inspired. E♭ major might swing naturally. A major could sound laid-back. The piano itself guides you—when you don't know a scale perfectly, you discover survival chords like diminished sevenths, you create your own passing harmonies, and you develop unique voicings that wouldn't happen if everything were pre-written. We also explore practical voicing options: 6/9 chords on the tonic, slash chords (like IV/I), proper alto and tenor voice leading for that choral cadence feeling (sus4 resolving to 3, and 6 resolving to 5), and how to color your harmonies with 9ths, 13ths, and major 7ths. Don't forget to subscribe and hit the bell icon for regular notifications! Learn how to play 3 left-hand harmonic piano patterns to make chords sound more lush and colourful. Stop playing boring root-fifth-octave patterns in your left hand; these work perfectly for pop, rock, Bollywood and contemporary piano arrangements. First, open 9th voicings built from two stacked perfect fifths, which work with both major and minor in the right hand, practised with the F9 to Eb add9 exercise. Second, floating scale tones with a root-octave anchor in a 3/4 swing pattern. Third, diatonic thirds with a static root, combining F major thirds with the root F for folk-inspired sounds and open major 7th voicings. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 00:00 - Performance 00:44 - 3 Harmonic Tools for Left Hand 01:20 - The goal of the Left hand for Harmony 01:43 - Need for Width in the Bass Register 02:01 - The Root - Octave Left Hand Support 02:51 - What we’ll learn in this lesson? 04:34 - Spread Ninth Chords 04:57 - Works with both Major & Minor Chords 07:41 - Spread Triads 08:27 - The Ninth Chord Exercise 09:51 - Up a Minor 3rd 10:42 - Fignering for the Left Hand 11:51 - 3/4 Pattern with Swing 12:19 - F Major Floating 13:41 - What could the Bass Movement be? 15:48 - Now for the Minor 16:56 - Modal Modulation 18:12 - Bottom up Approach 19:00 - Anchor with Thirds 19:37 - Combining the Thirds with the Root 20:08 - Drone sound with color 21:20 - Anchor on the Top with Minor 22:13 - Floating from both directions 23:28 - Recapping the lesson and preparing ahead ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🎵 Music Theory lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoTheory 🎹 All our lessons on Chord Inversions (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC 👂 Ear Training lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/EarTraining ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 Call +91 98454 65411 · 💬 WhatsApp chat +91 77604 56847 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #LeftHandPiano #OpenVoicings #PianoAccompaniment

In this Piano tutorial, you'll learn a voicing technique that adds depth and color to your chords using ringing notes, inspired by the open strings of the guitar. We work in the key of E major and let the root, 3rd, 5th, 2nd, 4th, major 6th and 7th ring over the chords, with Country Roads as an example, and then look at the ringing E, G, D and C. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 00:00 - Performance 00:57 - Chords from the Perspective of the Guitar 02:31 - Open Notes on the Guitar 04:06 - Key of E Major 04:18 - Root, 3rd & 5th 04:34 - Available chords 04:58 - All Diatonic Chords with E Ringing 07:18 - Practice Method for Pianists 08:29 - Ringing the 5th - B 09:12 - Ringing the 3rd - G# 10:59 - Ringing the 2nd - F# 11:58 - Ringing the G# with Country Roads 12:33 - Ringing the A - 4th Interval 13:13 - Ringing the B - Perfect 5th 14:28 - Ringing the 7th 14:56 - Ringing the C# - Major 6th 15:25 - Picking Add Notes Chord by Chord 16:29 - Part 1 - Conclusion 17:28 - Guitar Notes that Ring 17:54 - The Ringing E 18:51 - Simplifying the Process 19:48 - The Ringing G 21:09 - The Ringing D 23:36 - The Ringing C 24:30 - Final Thoughts ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🎵 Music Theory lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoTheory 🎹 All our lessons on Chord Inversions (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC 👂 Ear Training lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/EarTraining ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 Call +91 98454 65411 · 💬 WhatsApp chat +91 77604 56847 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #PianoVoicings #Sus2Chords #PianoChords
