Circle of fifths piano practice, rhythm workout: play every major and minor chord around the whole circle, in every inversion, with arpeggios, the tresillo and the son clave. Piano lesson with Jason Zac of Nathaniel School of Music. This is Part 2. Part 1 gave you the shape of every chord in root position, first inversion and second inversion. Now the rhythm comes in, and your two hands start sharing the beat. First, one chord through its inversions while the left hand holds a root or plays a pattern of its own: 1 hit against 4, 2 against 4, 3+1, 1+3, and only beats 2 and 4. Then three broken-chord orders: low-middle-high-middle, high-middle-low-middle and high-low-middle-low. Then the tresillo over a left-hand root and stride, so you have to find the root and the inversion at speed. After that, the journeys: the same shape from chord to chord (white-black-white, black-white-black), then the whole circle of fifths and the whole circle of fourths. The last two rhythms are a first-inversion circle with the modified tresillo and a second-inversion circle with the son clave over a stride. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 📹 Everything for Life Bundle ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ▶️ Related lessons & playlists Part 1: every major and minor chord in root position + 2 inversions ➡️ https://youtu.be/SOfunteeDXU Circle of Fifths (playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT-FzWCgbLnhEXKrulYDxLQJ Triads That Move: Piano Rhythm Workout With Swing, Tresillo & Clave ➡️ https://youtu.be/CNsXfo9D9RE The Tresillo: Pop's Most-Used Piano Rhythm, Explained ➡️ https://youtu.be/knJebrulzRI 10 Rhythm Patterns That Make Chord Inversions Easy ➡️ https://youtu.be/DjPqzQqe_NY 🎡 Free Fifth Harmony circle of fifths app (24 modes, including the piano mode) ➡️ https://circle-of-fifths.nathanielschool.com 🎓 https://nathanielschool.com 📚 Free tutorials library ➡️ https://free-music-lessons.nathanielschool.com ⏱️ Chapters 00:00 - Intro 01:18 - One chord through its inversions 03:47 - Hand ratios: 1:4, 2:4, 3+1 06:04 - Arpeggios: three patterns 08:23 - Tresillo with stride 11:11 - Same-shape journeys 14:45 - The whole circle in fourths and fifths 16:47 - First inversion + modified tresillo 18:29 - Second inversion + son clave 20:17 - Wrap-up 💰 PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 💬 WhatsApp ➡️ +91 77604 56847 ✉️ music@nathanielschool.com #PianoLessons #PianoTutorial #MusicTheory #PianoRhythm

Circle of fifths piano practice: learn every major and minor chord by its shape, in root position, first inversion and second inversion, with Jason Zac of Nathaniel School of Music. There are 24 piano chords, but they fall into just four hand shapes. The circle of fifths shows you which chords share a shape, so you learn them in groups instead of one at a time. In this lesson you go round the groups one by one: the all-white chords (C, F, G and their relative minors Dm, Am, Em), white-black-white (A, D, E and Cm, Fm, Gm), black-white-black (A♭, D♭, E♭ and C#m, F#m, G#m) and the six unique chords (F#, B, B♭ and E♭m, Bm, B♭m). Each group is played in root position first, with the root in the left hand and a rhythm of three short notes and one held note. Then every group again in first inversion (root on top) and second inversion (root in the middle), with the fingering I use for each shape. D and E in second inversion, for example, sit under the same hand. This is practice for your hands, not a theory talk. For the theory of the major and minor shapes, watch the lesson linked below first. Part 2 takes the same chords around the whole circle with arpeggios, the tresillo and the son clave. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 📹 Everything for Life Bundle ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ▶️ Related lessons & playlists Circle of Fifths (playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT-FzWCgbLnhEXKrulYDxLQJ Learn ALL 12 Major & Minor Piano Chords (Triads) Using Intervals, Shapes & Theory ➡️ https://youtu.be/PAEz0Y82P1s How to Practice Chord Inversions Using the Circle of 5ths ➡️ https://youtu.be/VwgRQNBq2uU Make Chord Practice Fun With the Circle of Fifths (Part 1) ➡️ https://youtu.be/pu4mLLdZtYg 🎡 Free Fifth Harmony circle of fifths app (24 modes, including the piano mode) ➡️ https://circle-of-fifths.nathanielschool.com 🎓 https://nathanielschool.com 📚 Free tutorials library ➡️ https://free-music-lessons.nathanielschool.com ⏱️ Chapters 00:00 - Performance 00:10 - Intro 01:37 - Circle of fifths recap 06:31 - All-white major chords: C, F, G 08:57 - Relative minors: Am, Dm, Em 10:24 - White-black-white: A, D, E and Cm, Fm, Gm 12:09 - Black-white-black: Ab, Db, Eb and C#m, F#m, G#m 14:07 - The exclusive six: F#, B, Bb + Ebm, Bm, Bbm 16:31 - First inversion: root on top 21:39 - Second inversion: root in the middle 25:50 - Wrap-up and what’s next 💰 PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 💬 WhatsApp ➡️ +91 77604 56847 ✉️ music@nathanielschool.com #PianoLessons #PianoTutorial #MusicTheory #CircleOfFifths

Ten piano exercises, one chord, and nothing else. Everything in this lesson happens on E7 — and every single drill transfers to any dominant 7th you own. Treat it like a gym: same equipment, ten different movements. ✏️ Correction: at 1:44 I misspeak - a dominant 7th is 1, 3, 5, ♭7, so E7 is E, G#, B, D. 🎹 Take one chord and build ten gym-style piano workouts around it. In this practical lesson we use a single E7 (dominant seventh) chord and turn it into a full technique session that transfers to any chord you like. First we break down the E7 shape — root, major third, fifth and flat seventh — with sensible fingering for both hands and all four positions: root, first, second and third inversion. Then we run the ten drills: the inversion ladder, the siren, piano jumping jacks, the horn throw, the dead hang, the speed bag, the rope climb, the pyramid set, the crunch and a cool-down stretch. Along the way you'll practise arpeggios against block chords, alternating two-note patterns, tritone swaps between the third and flat seventh, finger-by-finger lifts, speed work with a bouncing wrist, hand-crossing and accent groupings in twos, threes, fives and sevens. This is for pianists who can build chords but want them to feel musical and coordinated. Get your piano out, start slow and try every workout on other chords around the circle of fifths — then tell us your favourite gesture for the horn throw in the comments. 🎛️ The Circle of Fifths app from 25:38 — Fifth Harmony. Learn essential piano note recognition beyond memorisation — master intervals, chord progressions and practice techniques. Jason Zac from Nathaniel School of Music reveals how understanding note relationships and intervals creates the foundation for advanced playing, going far beyond simple memorisation. You'll learn the complete system: starting with individual notes, progressing through intervals (minor thirds, perfect fifths, tritones), and building toward chord progressions. You'll discover how each note connects to others — like how Eb relates to A as a tritone, or how Bb to Eb forms a perfect fourth while Eb to Bb creates a perfect fifth. You'll also explore a Musical Note Generator practice tool with four modes — Beginner (random notes), Intermediate (interval training), Chord Progressions and Circle Patterns — each with tempo control and theory integration. Perfect for piano students, teachers and any instrumentalist wanting to strengthen their musical foundation. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 00:00 - Introduction to Note Recognition Importance 🎹 00:40 - Understanding Musical Intervals & Connections 01:07 - The 4-Note Practice Loop Method 01:18 - Understanding Musical Intervals & Connections 02:15 - Beginner Mode: Random Note Generation 03:15 - Practicing with All 12 Notes 03:49 - White Keys Only Practice Mode 04:11 - Speed Control & Tempo Adjustments 04:43 - Swing, Triplets, Quaver & Semi-Quaver Practice Modes 05:06 - Enharmonic Notes (E# & F♭) Mode 05:17 - Intermediate Mode: Interval Training 05:29 - Complete Interval Reference Guide 07:14 - Minor Thirds Practice Demonstration 09:19 - Perfect Fifths Training Exercise 09:41 - Using the Music Theory Glossary 📚 09:59 - Chord Progressions Mode Overview 10:47 - Dorian Rock Progression (F) 11:56 - Jazz Progression Demonstration 🎷 12:27 - Circle Pattern Mode Explained 13:54 - From Notes to Intervals to Chords 14:33 - Final Thoughts & Practice Tips ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🎵 Music Theory lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoTheory 🎹 All our lessons on Chord Inversions (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC 👂 Ear Training lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/EarTraining ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 Call +91 98454 65411 · 💬 WhatsApp chat +91 77604 56847 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #PianoIntervals #NoteRecognition #MusicTheory

Learn to practice major & minor chords using cadences and the circle of fifths. In this piano lesson, we'll explore how major and minor chords connect through cadences and the circle of fifths. You'll learn how to identify scales and modes based on simple two-chord progressions like V–I (authentic) and IV–I (plagal). We'll also see how combinations like major to major, major to minor, minor to major and minor to minor create unique sounds: Major to Major gives the Ionian (Major scale), Major to Minor a Harmonic Minor feel, Minor to Major the Mixolydian, and Minor to Minor the Aeolian (Natural Minor). Finally, we'll apply this to real piano practice with inversions, smooth transitions, and a creative way to harmonize any scale. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 00:00 - Performance 00:32 - Cadences & Circle of Fifths 01:32 - Revision of the Circle of Fifths 01:49 - Perfect 5th Galore 02:13 - Perfect 4th motion 02:41 - Cadences 04:06 - Plagal Cadence 05:19 - Binary Perspective - Major & Minor Triads 05:54 - V to I - Major Scale 06:58 - V to i - Harmonic Minor 08:10 - Highlighting the Scale 08:38 - Other scales wrt this Cadence 09:14 - v to I - Mixolydian 10:07 - v to i - Natural Minor 11:17 - Plagal Cadence - 4 to 1 12:26 - Major to Minor - Dorian 13:13 - iv - I (Charukeshi) - Mixolydian b6 14:07 - Minor to Minor 14:46 - Aeolian vs Harmonic Minor 16:05 - Think and Play 16:38 - Practice Goals ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🎵 Music Theory lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoTheory 🎹 All our lessons on Chord Inversions (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC 👂 Ear Training lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/EarTraining ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 Call +91 98454 65411 · 💬 WhatsApp chat +91 77604 56847 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #PianoScales #Cadences #CircleOfFifths

Improve your hand coordination, practice every single triad around the Circle of Fifths, and learn many scales - Mixolydian, Mixo b6, Minor & Dorian. First off, we look at a steady rock piano groove for the left hand with my "trampoline" method for faster, strain-free playing. After learning a popular "old-school" rock pattern used by artists such as Elton John & Deep Purple in the right hand, we practice two triads separated by the plagal cadence. To make the exercise interesting, we journey through both directions of the circle of fifths as well as the whole tone scale. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 00:00 - Performance 00:32 - About the Lesson 02:18 - Left Hand Bass pattern 02:42 - Static Synth pattern 03:17 - Body Parts Involved while playing Piano 04:21 - The “Trampoline” Motion 08:38 - Accenting the Drums 10:22 - Accenting on the & hits 11:01 - Triads in the RH 12:21 - Starting with Semibreves in the RH 14:27 - What is the Plagal Cadence? 15:05 - Passing Chord 17:49 - Exploring the Music Theory 19:00 - Rhythmic pattern with Mixolydian b6 20:00 - What if all this was Natural Minor? 20:25 - Dorian Mode 21:56 - Whole Tone drop 24:16 - Circle of 5ths Clockwise 25:35 - Circle of 5ths Counter-Clockwise 27:02 - Recap of the Bass line 28:31 - The Eventual Goal 30:20 - Conclusion ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🎵 Music Theory lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoTheory 🎹 All our lessons on Chord Inversions (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC 👂 Ear Training lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/EarTraining ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 Call +91 98454 65411 · 💬 WhatsApp chat +91 77604 56847 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #RockPiano #PlagalCadence #CircleOfFifths

Scales feel like a slog? A little simple maths makes major and minor scale practice exponentially easier and unlocks the bright or moody colour each one carries. Jason Zac from Nathaniel School of Music shows how a small dose of maths, simple patterns of steps and intervals, takes the guesswork out of learning major and minor scales on the piano. You'll discover the shortcuts that let you build any scale with confidence, see how the same logic applies across all keys, and feel how much faster practice goes once the pattern clicks. In this piano tutorial we play a chord progression using 2 popular cadences, plagal and authentic (perfect), across the entire Circle of Fifths. While doing this, we develop our knowledge of chord inversions and voice leading. After playing the exercise in the right hand with all 12 major chords, we then move the pattern to the left hand and focus on a melody line built using the tetrachord concept, climbing from the chord tones. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 00:00 Performance 00:16 What will you learn? 01:46 Circle of Fifths & Cadences 05:41 Basic Inversion Study 06:26 Chord Inversion Climbing - Authentic Cadence 12:49 Chord Inversion Climbing - Plagal Cadence 16:34 Understanding the Tetra Chord 20:29 Melodic Movement with Tetra Chord - Root to Root 22:43 Melodic Movement with Tetra Chord - Third to Third 23:15 Melodic movement with Tetra Chord - Fifth to Fifth 25:30 Conclusion & Revision ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🎵 Music Theory lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoTheory 🎹 All our lessons on Chord Inversions (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC 👂 Ear Training lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/EarTraining ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 Call +91 98454 65411 · 💬 WhatsApp chat +91 77604 56847 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #CircleOfFifths #ChordInversions #MajorScales

Using just your voice and the piano, we learn how to train our ear for chords and aspects of harmony with 5 organic techniques. Challenge yourself with chord roots, inversions and even the “merry-go-round” of the Circle of Fifths. Unlike most of the apps out there, these are “real-world” approaches that only need your piano and your voice: hunt for the bass, sing the roots of the chord, hear chord inversions, connect 2 chords together, and sing one “floating” note in the triad. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 00:00 Introduction 00:46 My Harmonic Journey 02:17 Singing the Chord Roots in the Bass with Intervals 07:43 Practicing the Indian Classical Approach (Swaras) 10:24 Chord Inversions 11:12 Highest Melody Note 13:59 Voice Leading Exercises between chords 17:13 “Floating” notes of the Triad 23:29 Revision & Conclusion ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🎵 Music Theory lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoTheory 🎹 All our lessons on Chord Inversions (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC 👂 Ear Training lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/EarTraining ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 Call +91 98454 65411 · 💬 WhatsApp chat +91 77604 56847 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #EarTraining #RelativePitch #MusicTheory
