Piano Hand Independence With Sixteenth Notes: Open Voicing & Jazz Feel (Part 4)
Develop hand independence with sixteenth notes, using open (spread) voicing in the left hand and a soulful jazz groove. Jason Zac from Nathaniel School of Music uses open (spread) voicing in the left hand with a soulful chord progression following a sixteenth-note groove, while the right hand embellishes with upper extensions for a jazz flavour. To deepen the independence, the right hand also plays these chords as the pulse (quarter notes). You will cover left-hand spread voicing and fingering, counting sixteenth notes with a shaker and grid, the bassline with the pulse, Eb Maj7 and 9th formations, Fmin7 embellishment, the Bb9sus4 dominant, pedal technique, thinking like a drummer, and a super slow version. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🎵 Music Theory lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoTheory 🎹 All our lessons on Chord Inversions (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC 👂 Ear Training lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/EarTraining ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 Call +91 98454 65411 · 💬 WhatsApp chat +91 77604 56847 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #HandIndependence #SixteenthNotes #JazzPiano Chapters 00:00 Left-hand sixteenth-note pattern and right-hand chord pulse 01:52 Left-hand spread voicings 03:23 E flat major and F minor shapes 04:30 The final suspended voicing 06:05 Fingering and sustain pedal 07:32 Count the left-hand sixteenth-note pattern 10:53 Notes within the left-hand pattern 11:51 Right-hand chord extensions 13:35 F minor seventh colour 14:12 E flat major-ninth colour 15:17 Final B flat suspended-ninth voicing 16:47 Combine the left-hand pattern with held chords 17:31 Begin the right-hand pulse on one note 18:46 Play the full right-hand voicings 19:47 Combine both hands 20:24 Pulse and groove as complementary roles 22:12 Recap the exercise 24:56 Slow full exercise
