Bass Line + Melody in Thirds: Build Serious Piano Hand Independence
Combining a left-hand bass line with a right-hand melody in thirds is a powerful way to develop serious hand independence on the piano — and this lesson builds it piece by piece. Jason Zac from Nathaniel School of Music walks you through a minor-key piece that brings together bass, chords and an ornamented melody in thirds. After a quick refresher on the minor scale, you'll learn the bass line and chord progression, then add a right-hand melody in thirds with ornaments. From there you'll place a pulse in the left hand and add dotted notes, with a clear explanation of the dotted quaver along the way. A beginner-friendly easy version is included so you can build up to the full arrangement. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🎹 All our lessons on Chord Inversions (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC 🥁 All our lessons on Rhythm (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT85tF6cGvZK6jc5u6yZg5uU 🎵 Music Theory lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoTheory ⏱️ Chapters 00:00 Performance 01:03 Introduction 03:15 Essential Music Theory - Minor Scale 03:42 Bass Line 04:10 Chord Progression 04:33 The Bass Line 09:06 The Melody in Thirds with Ornaments 13:42 Pulse in the Left Hand 15:56 Dotted Notes in the Left Hand 16:32 What is a Dotted Quaver? 18:57 Beginner (Easy) Version 19:58 Conclusion & Revision ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 Call +91 98454 65411 · 💬 WhatsApp chat +91 77604 56847 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #HandIndependence #BassLine #PianoExercise
