Ascending & Descending Scale Practice With 3 Slash Chords (Two-Hand Workout)
Slash chords add instant tension — even a tonic can feel unstable with another note in the bass — and they make a brilliant scale workout. Jason Zac from Nathaniel School of Music explains how slash chords differ from regular triads: they create tension, and even the tonic chord can sound unstable when played over another bass note. In this scale-climbing exercise (ascending and descending), you'll work two distinct hand jobs at once: the right hand uses inversions with a voicing technique to bring out the melody line, while the left hand uses slash chords to climb the scale from the root to the octave and back. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 00:00 - Performance 00:14 - Introduction 00:39 - About the Lesson 01:40 - Eb Major - Essential Theory 02:08 - Inversions of the I, IV & V Chord 03:40 - Slash Chords 05:03 - All the 3 Slash Chords with Singing 05:57 - RH with Scalar Movement 06:27 - Inversion Strategy 07:37 - Moving up the Eb Major Scale 08:20 - Arpeggio Pattern 09:02 - Sa Re Ga Ma - Up & Down 09:40 - Play root notes on the left hand 10:45 - Managing the 5th Degree 11:50 - Practicing the Whole Ascend 12:29 - Descending the Scale 13:14 - LH - Blocks & RH - Arpeggios 14:14 - Twinkle Twinkle Returns! 14:37 - Bringing out the Melody 16:30 - Ascending and Descending in Left Hand 𝄢 19:58 - Revision ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🎹 All our lessons on Chord Inversions (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC 🎵 Music Theory lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoTheory 🥁 All our lessons on Rhythm (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT85tF6cGvZK6jc5u6yZg5uU ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 Call +91 98454 65411 · 💬 WhatsApp chat +91 77604 56847 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #SlashChords #ScalePractice #PianoExercises
