🎹 Thirds Exercise Part 2: Ascending Pattern!
Part 2 of our thirds exercise series. Climb the G major scale in thirds and sharpen your semiquaver rhythm feel. The exercise uses G major and G harmonic minor, where the augmented second gives the harmonic minor its wider leap, and works on both closed thirds and spread thirds. The rhythm patterns use 16th notes, dotted notes, tied notes and rests in 4/4, with one rhythm figure for descending thirds and another for ascending thirds, starting from different scale degrees each time. For the left hand there are three options: hold the pulse on the starting note, mirror the right hand in thirds, or play the scale notes underneath the right-hand thirds.
