Piano Scale Exercise Using Thirds (D Major)
Practise D major on piano with third-derived harmony: move each note's upper third down an octave so the melody stays on top. Jason Zac explains fingering and adds a lower octave. Jason Zac from Nathaniel School of Music presents this scale-in-thirds drill as part of a wider series of piano scale exercises. Instead of playing the scale as single notes, you add each note's upper third an octave below the melody — which trains finger control while keeping the tune on top. Worked into regular practice, it builds speed, flexibility and the kind of finger independence that pays off across everything you play. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🏋🏽 Piano Exercises - Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoExercises 🪜 Arpeggios (Playlist) ➡️ https://geni.us/Arpeggios ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 +91 77604 56847 (Mobile & WhatsApp) 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #ScalesInThirds #PianoScales #PianoExercises Chapters 00:00 Piano scale exercise in thirds 00:26 Why thirds enrich a melody 01:01 Find the upper third of each scale note 01:38 Bring the upper third down an octave 02:19 Fingering advice for black keys 03:11 Add the lower octave 03:58 Try other scales, tempos and patterns
