The Tresillo: Pop's Most-Used Piano Rhythm, Explained
The Tresillo is the most popular rhythm in modern pop — and in this lesson you'll learn to count it in two speeds and build piano patterns that instantly groove. Using a simple progression (Bm–D–A–Em), Jason Zac from Nathaniel School of Music teaches you to count the Tresillo in both a 'slow' and 'fast' feel, then voices the chords with their smoothest inversions. From there you'll build a variety of piano rhythm patterns using left-hand roots, arpeggios, claves, ghost notes and dynamics — the same rhythmic DNA behind hits like 'Clocks', 'Despacito' and countless others. ⏱️ Chapters 00:00 Performance 00:58 Introduction 04:07 Let’s count the Tresillo in both speeds 09:21 Let’s learn the chords with inversions 17:05 Left-Hand Roots 18:51 Left-Hand Roots with 3rds, 5ths & “Slow” Arpeggios 23:30 “Slow Tresillo” Patterns - Dynamic Chords with Ghosts, Arpeggios (332), with Sixteenths 30:41 “Fast Tresillo” Patterns - Variation over 2 cycles (“e”) & Clave 33:18 Conclusion 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🥁 All our lessons on Rhythm (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT85tF6cGvZK6jc5u6yZg5uU 🎹 Groovy Tresillo Arpeggios ➡️ https://youtu.be/RfyH9tWmeRM 🎵 Learn 'Clocks' by Coldplay ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76usOb_WA68 ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 Call +91 98454 65411 · 💬 WhatsApp chat +91 77604 56847 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #Tresillo #PianoRhythm #PianoLesson
