Rhythm Like a Storyteller: Accent Grouping, Phrasing & Beat Division (Part 1)
Master rhythm through accent grouping, phrasing and beat divisions beyond basic time signatures. Knowing whether a song is in 7/8, 5/4 or 4/4 is just the beginning. To truly excel as an improviser, composer, arranger or producer, you need to understand accent grouping, phrasing and beat divisions. The lesson demonstrates original compositions in various time signatures including 27/8, 15/8, 9/8 and 4/4, showing how rhythmic grouping inspires melodic and harmonic ideas. A 4/4 bar contains 16 semiquavers, which most people group as 4+4+4+4. But you can group it as 5+4+3+3 or any combination that equals 16, completely changing the feel while staying in time. Think of rhythm like storytelling. Some sentences are long, some are short, but everything stays in tempo. Beat divisions are equally crucial: the same composition can use triplets in one section and semiquavers in another, and understanding the difference between swing and straight feel transforms how you approach rhythm. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🎵 Music Theory lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoTheory 🎹 All our lessons on Chord Inversions (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC 👂 Ear Training lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/EarTraining ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 Call +91 98454 65411 · 💬 WhatsApp chat +91 77604 56847 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #AccentGrouping #OddMeter #RhythmTraining
