Fix Your Timing With Triplets: A Piano Exercise for Rock-Solid Rhythm

Practise an A-major scale up to the ninth, then A and D chords in triplets. Keep the metronome at 60 bpm while changing even subdivisions and triplet note values. Jason Zac from Nathaniel School of Music takes a conventional scale exercise and modifies it — adding the 9th interval and merging the cycle with a pattern of chords. Practising it slowly against the click trains your ear and hands to feel subdivisions evenly, so triplets stop rushing or dragging. The goal is a deeper, more natural understanding of rhythm and a tighter ability to lock in with the beat — the foundation every groove is built on. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🥁 All our lessons on Rhythm (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT85tF6cGvZK6jc5u6yZg5uU ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 Call +91 98454 65411 · 💬 WhatsApp chat +91 77604 56847 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #Triplets #PianoTiming #RhythmExercise Chapters 00:00 Piano timing with triplets 00:21 Why practise slowly with a metronome? 01:12 Extend the scale to the ninth 02:22 Combine the scale with I–IV chords 03:14 Rhythmic divisions and triplets 04:33 Demonstration at 60 bpm 05:31 Count triplets 05:56 Eighth-note scale with quarter-note-triplet chords 06:50 Sixteenth notes with eighth-note triplets 07:49 Practise the triplet part alone 08:15 Thirty-second-note subdivision 08:47 Keep the left-hand pulse without a metronome 10:13 Recap
