The Easiest Way to Make Piano Chords More Complex (Spread Voicing)
Starting from a plain triad, here's the easiest way to grow your harmony and make piano chords more complex and colourful. Jason Zac from Nathaniel School of Music uses a spread voicing technique in the left hand, keeping a triad as the starting point, to add colour with sevenths, sixths, augmented chords and more. You'll cover voicing chords in the left-hand bass register, the major 7th (FACE), the dominant 7th (FACEb), practising I IV and V with 7th harmony, plus major 6th, augmented and minor extensions — including a James Bond moment. It's a simple, repeatable method for richer chords on the piano. 🏫 Courses, Workshops or Private lessons ➡️ https://forms.gle/fsbhFKSgJbZ5xZEr8 ============================= 📹 Our Video Courses (Everything for Life Bundle) ➡️ https://learn-music.nathanielschool.com/ 🎹 Piano Courses & Private Lessons ➡️ https://piano.nathanielschool.com ============================= ▶️ Related Lessons & Playlists 🎵 Music Theory lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/PianoTheory 🎹 All our lessons on Chord Inversions (Playlist) ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrNNL05e9FT9ygtrGwGFmfyvMyGWH52EC 👂 Ear Training lessons ➡️ https://geni.us/EarTraining ============================= 🎓 Learn Music with Nathaniel School of Music & Jason Zac ➡️ https://nathanielschool.com 📚 All our YouTube lessons (1000+) by skill level, topic & genre ➡️ https://learning-portal.nathanielschool.com ============================= 💰 Donate on PayPal ➡️ https://geni.us/DonatePayPal 📸 Instagram ➡️ https://instagram.com/jasonzac 📞 Call +91 98454 65411 · 💬 WhatsApp chat +91 77604 56847 📧 Customised & Private Classes ➡️ music@nathanielschool.com 🎧 Listen to Jason Zac Music ➡️ https://riffs.jasonzacmusic.com/ #SpreadVoicing #PianoVoicings #SeventhChords Chapters 00:00 Extend piano chords with spread voicings 01:03 F major in spread position 02:22 From triad to major seventh 03:46 Dominant-seventh colour 05:29 Practise related chords by fourths and fifths 06:37 Use the pedal when the stretch is too wide 07:02 Major sixth and augmented colour 07:44 Recap the major-chord voicings 08:18 Extend minor chords 09:27 Explore the note between root and tenth 09:44 Recap the left-hand voicing method
