🎹 1 Third Shell + 12 Bass Notes = Every Chord You Need | Harmony Explained

Two notes in the right hand, a third, can give you 24 chords just by changing the bass note underneath. Using A and C for the minor third and A and C# for the major third, we harmonise each shell with 12 different bass notes: triads, slash chords, seventh shells, jazz extensions, diminished and augmented voicings. Voicings include F major, Am/E, Dm7, D7sus4, G11, Bbmaj9, Bb minor major 9 (the James Bond chord), F# diminished, B7b9 and A7/G. We also look at making clashing bass notes work by thickening the harmony and using arpeggios instead of block chords.
